On the 2nd JAN this year, Boris stood on the steps of Downing St, and announced with a double thumbs up sign........"This is going to be a fantastic year for Britain".......Little did he realise then, what was ahead.
Boris is not famous for his honesty, but that day he did not realise he was telling the biggest unintentional lie of his life.

And just look what Boris,s Fellow Brexit Campaigner, Priti Patel said.
"And there's another great bonus for leaving the E/U, and that is we'll be able to Design a new immigration system that will bring all this chaos under control and also help the economy. Eh, what happend there then priti ?.

gulliver1, when we leave the eu and it's laws, france germany turn a blind eye to the laws they have signed up to... but the u.k have not abused the laws...new judge know more than me..about it.
Boris did not lie, he said what he felt and no one in their right mind would know what disaster was coming our way
We have left the EU; the thing is we also signed up to a transition period now that we're out, which still ties our hands in the meantime. No expert, but I suspect there are non-EU agreements that need checking and revising too. It'll take time to get things moving in the right direction.
One thing that won’t apply any more is the Dublin convention on immigrants :-)

There is a gentle irony in the UK having to go back to the EU for help “taking back control” of its borders ...
// unintentional lie//
by golly you will get a bit of stick over this
see answer no 1 -
and all over the uproarious David Lammy thread ( now closed) there are statements - true statements! - of 'I never lie' - lies one notorious liar on AB

o god that reminds me - Violet Trefusis leddy lover of Vita Sackville West (greek for this is "tribas" I read in Sophocles (Antigone)) - referred to by Vita as Violet tres-confusee)
wrote a biography - er "biography". Vita was ready with the spiteful barbs and suggested the title as "Here lies Violet Trefusis"

Oh and I want to throw in the light weight but ever read
" All cretans are liars said the Famous Cretan Epimenes"

Nevill Chamberlain never expected the second world war did he?
and the Japanese never expected ....
You know what the Japanese said about Imphal (*) and Kohima (*)?
First time the Blitish didnt run away ( Happy VJ day)

(*) who or WHAT are dese? where on erf are dese den?
I see the other two members of the triumvirate of terror are nowhere to be seen. Has Gully become an embarrassment even for Diddlycakes?
Wow, I was getting so confused reading this thread.
Thank goodness PP has explained everything to all.
Lol Ozzy. You made me actually read it :-)
i`m sick of all the so called experts slagging off the Government with the benefit of hindsight to say they would have done it differently. In view of the uniqueness of this event I`d me amazed if mistakes were not made no matter who was in power.
gulliver: "He Announced that this year was going to be a fantastic year for Britain , and it wasn't . That was the lie. " - well I am announcing that dobbin will win the 5 oclock and Sandown. if it doesn't will I have been lying? You and the LibFac hordes need to look up what a porky actually is. Hoping for an outcome is not a lie, failing to predict and outcome is not a lie. Geddit? of course you don't.
when these threads come in from the LibFacs and the Triumvirate I always ask the same thing, nothing has ever been forthcoming, but for the sake of tradition I'll ask once more: Can you(anyone) give me an example, with evidence, of a lie told by the current PM? Thanks
No and neither can Gulliver and his fantasies either, Boris has made mistakes , he's human and humans do that ,with all Gully's bluster he hasn't once came up with what 'should' happen, he can never substantiate what he scribbles
Are you serious?
Just because gulliver has, as usual, jumped in with two left feet, shouldn't deflect from actual instances of being parsimonious with the actuality - from the Times affair in 1988, his misleading articles on the EU for the Spectator, his "forgetfulness" in statements to the press on personal and other matters.
Mostly it's not so much lies as backtracking on previous assurances, whether to NI Unionists, on world-beating apps, etc etc.
I think we all know examples :-)
Ich, this post is about one incident as quoted by Gulliver, not a general discussion about Boris's past indiscretions, but as usual the post is getting derailed by your antipathy towards Boris.
09:35, ich ok I'm all ears find me an example of a lie, that's all I ask.
"this post is about one incident as quoted by Gulliver, not a general discussion about Boris's past indiscretions"

No? Like I say, it would be a pity to let one ill-judged post spoil the fun :-)
Examples? I already gave some above
what these: "from the Times affair in 1988, his misleading articles on the EU for the Spectator, his "forgetfulness" in statements to the press on personal and other matters.
Mostly it's not so much lies as backtracking on previous assurances, " - you say it yourself, not lies, back tracking, If I say I'm going to do something and change my mind that's not a lie is it? None of the Boris haters that accuse him of lying have ever produced an example and I always ask. The silence is deafening as it no doubt will be here.
Have a look here, at claims made by the PM and his Ministers

https://boris-johnson-lies.com
they seem to be intentions or beliefs that didn't occur as intended. Which of those are you saying are lies?
