its a bit difficult to comment without a link
Perhaps they so named it because the women who wear it are smoking
>How is that racism?
Who says it was racist? Maybe they just felt it was not a good idea to use the name of an addictive substance, just as they'd be wise to avoid the name 'cannabis'
well as we can't see for ourselves, who knows>

I wish these companies would stop pandering to attention seeking “ me, me, me” saddoes.
I guess it will be Dulux next, think of all the negatively named paint colours there are...or Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Half the flavours have the words brownie or caramel in them.
It's pathetic.
It's nothing to do with racism.....that's just a topical media spin.

It's to do with calling a product 'tobacco' which has negative connotations. By extension any young girl with the same skin-tone probably would want a different more positive word to describe it.
It's 'racist' because They say it is and Their's is the only opinion that counts now. The next move will be to stop describing clothes as cotton, we all know where that used to come from, don't we. Then They wonder why many people, me included, despise their racist pronouncements,
Agree with LCG.
OTT PC
Tobacco does have negative connotations as anyone forced to share a room with a smoker can testify. But labelling something such that you reduce sales is a marketing drop off to be dealt with internally, not something one should use to make an utter idiot of oneself and ruin one's reputaton by apologising to the public. If one scores one own goal, the solution isn't to rush to score a second.
why on earth does the article have to have 3 pictures of the complainant I wonder (none of her in the bra I see!)
Does anyone else on here pick their bra to match their skin tone?
She's an idiot - tobacco is a plant that is that colour
Mind you. Is this not the same company that sold globes with the Falkland Islands mislabelled ? Can they fall any further in folk's estimation ?
while they still sell garlic stuffed olives, no!
tobacco as a plant is green and when its dried its actually a goldeny brown...and yes Bedknobs if you want to wear a bra under a sheer top then it makes sense to match your skin tone if you can.

Actually its a pretty dated colour name and I do get why people would not want to assocoate their skin tone with a toxic and unpleasant habit.
M&S is so 'woke' these days it makes my toes curl. Luckily, they no longer stock the range clothes I used to like, so I don't have to shop there anymore.
in which case, where can I complain they don't sell blotchy white with red patches?
