"Just curious but would they want to stay with a family who served up bacon sarnies and hamburgers?"

No but you would probably be expected not to eat that sort of food nor leave Bibles out etc. And no alcohol either.

Of course many of the luvvies are Vegans probably so they can still house them. They wont though will they?

maybe the guest will want to serve up, erm boko haram starter, followed by a little al-shabaab.
Definitely not and of those who say they will, I'm very sceptical of
If you have a spare room (some people even have several) and you are willing, ain’t nobody else’s business if you do :-)
I’m more than sceptical - I just simply don’t believe them, but they think it looks good to say they would.
I agree 100% DD
Presumably if volunteers do come forward they’ll be genuine?
I don’t see where it says anyone had yet.
I’ve got a spare room, but I wouldn’t be happy with even my sister moving in, let alone a stranger.
I wouldn't do it. Before you know it, that one refugee has turned into 20 of them sleeping on wall to wall mattresses in your spare room!!!
great, all the LibFac hordes that did wanton vandalism the other week should be queueing up to offer their spare rooms. I hope the mayor himself will also be contributing.
Mozz: "I rent a one bedroom flat Baldrick, so I'm afraid I am unable to assist." - Loooxury! A whole bedroom? get bunk beds in me old china!
Lady Janine; "Just curious but would they want to stay with a family who served up bacon sarnies and hamburgers? " - probably have to convert to Islam and make sure the kasi doesn't face mecca!
//If you have a spare room (some people even have several) and you are willing, ain’t nobody else’s business if you do :-)//

No it isn't. But it becomes worthy of comment when self-righteous, virtue signalling politicians (e.g. Ms Sturgeon and Ms Balls-Cooper) say they will (thus implying that other people should) when they have no intention of doing so.

It is quite clear from Mayor Rees's comments, that his city (in line with almost all others) has no accommodation for recent arrivals. That being the case, in the interests of the residents of Bristol, on whose behalf he acts, he should be lobbying the government to do more to prevent them landing here.
He’s dealing with the reality NJ.
Which is there are people in need of housing.
And again, I’ve read the article and can’t see anywhere where it mentions people offering.
Why would the mayor do it?
I see no conflict there if he could it wouldn’t.
I probably wouldn’t, but it’s volunteers he’s asking for: that means people who would :-)
Where's Colston when you need him? He would of built Alms houses in Bristol,no doubt, and problem solved.
Since the government is trying to stop illegal immigration into this country, isn't offering free board and lodging to illegal immigrants rather sending the wrong message?

The message that clearly goes from arrived migrants to potential migrants is that this is a country with no actual active border protection that will offer welfare money to any and all who arrive here.

To add to that the message that free board and lodging are available is likely to add to the traffic, rather than decrease it - surely such advice flies in the face of government policy and should not be offered by any politician or public figure?

If I wanted to overcrowd my house, I would offer my youngest daughter's bedroom back to her, and her partner and two children - they can live with us and save the £500 a month they pay in private rent.

If i wanted to, which I don;t, and neither do they.

As far as strangers who have already by definition proved themselves desperate enough to break the law of every country they have crossed - I don;t think so.
I thought the Marv had already said he had a room spare
NJ // But it becomes worthy of comment when self-righteous, virtue signalling....../ ABers I thought you were going to say

then there wd be MANY rooms to spare ( hur hur hur)

(disgusting, spiteful ! scream the usual suspects - I dont understand a word but he should still be banned screams a third. Can you translate before he goes writes a fourth. He called me an ignoramus last year and I have only just found out what it means moans a fifth)
If you 'let out' (and I assume the peppercorn rent would qualify) to multiple people then dont you fall foul of the HMO rulings whereby you need a licence?

And if you did not have a tenancy agreement could the person not claim some rights of occupation over your property if you let them in?

Genuine questions for one of our legal eagles.
"Marvin Rees is an idiot of the highest order abd the sooner we get rid of him the better."

As far as I can see, every major seems to be an idiot of the highest order, out to make a name for themselves by pushing through anything that deteriorates their patch in their name before passing the mantle on to another who doesn't restore what was destroyed but instead add their own layer of guano on top. Local control seems so good in theory, but when the elected have no interest in giving the locals a say but just do their own thing, then it's clear what an utter disaster the present system is.
