//People who test positive for coronavirus or show symptoms in the UK must now self-isolate for 10 days.

The change, announced by the UK's four chief medical officers, comes as ministers try to avoid a resurgence of the virus.

Until now, those showing key symptoms - a new continuous cough, a temperature or loss of taste or smell - have had to self-isolate for at least a week.

The new advice is in line with World Health Organization guidance.//

Will we ever be rid of this virus - or will we eventually have to concede that it's something we have to live (or die) with and return to normal life?

I think we have to live (or die) with it. If there is a second wave (or indeed the first wave still not ending) as seems to be happening, then for the past four months we have effectively been playing hide and seek with the virus. I think we have to live (or die) with it. If there is a second wave (or indeed the first wave still not ending) as seems to be happening, then for the past four months we have effectively been playing hide and seek with the virus. I assume more people are being tested, hence the increase in infections. If that is true then that does not necessarily mean more people have Covid, it just means we know about it.
As long as hospital admissions and deaths do not start increasing alarmingly, I think we should carry on relaxing the lockdown further. You have to wonder why local lockdowns are starting to happen if hospital admissions haven't risen, surely it is then going beyond the mantra of "Protect the NHS"?
I think we’ll have to live (or die) with it. Thankfully there are better brains than mine working on it.

The common cold is a coronavirus and they haven’t found a cure or vaccine for that.
I think we'll have to live with it. Like a cold or the flu I'm sure they'll find drugs to help relieve the symptoms.
I think that it is going to be with us just like the flu virus.Just hope that they come up with a vaccine sooner rather than later.
Keep calm, it will all be over in a couple of weeks. :0)

Did you think it would all be over in a couple of weeks, teacake. You've said that several times.
I didn't, but you seemed to have all the answers back in the early days, I almost sure at one point you claimed some on here were getting hysterical, and making a big fuss, it seems you're having second thoughts?
Question Author
teacake, I do think people have been hysterical - that hasn't changed - but I never claimed it would all be over in a couple of weeks so where you got that from is anyone's guess. Maybe you're just stirring, eh?
Naomi, it is quite usual for him to swim against the tide,he's what the Americans call ornery.
Short term memory not great, but long term memory is great, without spending all day scrolling back. Stirring? no, just responding to you're thread. Many including yourself took it all with a pinch of salt, along with Boris.
Oh, and I do not think people have been hysterical now, or before, just very worried, has you appear to be with you posting this thread.
12.00 Who pulled you're chain?
Do you not know the difference between has and as? You frequently use the former when you mean the latter.
...and it's your chain.
Question Author
teacake, //long term memory is great,//

Not if you're claiming I said it will all be over in two weeks because I didn't. You need to understand that we don't all relish doom-mongering as you do, teacake.
21.09 Is that the best you can offer this thread?
Oops looks like the truth has rattled TC.
Question Author
12:06, what on earth are you on about? You're losing the plot.
12.11, I think you'll find you've started the doom mongering with this thread. Anyhow I've said what I wanted to on this thread, not going to get into tit for tat, we've already been joined by two people who have nothing really to say that's valid. Have a nice day and I'm sure we will have some sort of drug in the near future to help with the situation.
