I don't think that will surprise anyone.

Not surprised and I hope it is thoroughly investigated and dealt with, the whole thing is bad enough without that being brushed to one side.
Which thread's been closed and why is it a problem?
//Pc Harpers Death Verdict// Thread closed.

It was verging on becoming a legal issue for AB on its own.
m, what was the legal issue ?
the mods and eds have a poor understanding about comment on legal cases

it is not sub judice so we can say what we will like to be honest - a judge even said twitter discussion wasnt really contempt of court - which surprised me = see first sentence

the other thread is now pretty thread-bare with all the usual suspects saying the usual things, goading each other to say even stupider gormless outrageous things.

think of a prayer meeting - or one of the churches who handle snakes. I have no idea why jury nobbling should be referred to the AG.

it should and can and was dealt with at the time. The judge does some shouting, threatens to close the gallery and calls the police in. They look (looked) severe as we trooped in an out. (another case)

some of the defendants family milled around the court entrance ( as I staggered down the steps rather obviously visually impaired ) and the defence barrister in court dress ( really ? that is NOT the custom) told them they had to disperse.
I bet nothing comes of it, the scum always seem to win these days in this country.
When threads are closed there should be a post from the person closing it to say what’s happened and why.
That doesn’t seem to happen much
^The Ed/Spare Ed post to say threads are closed. I assume when there's no such post, a mod is responsible.
ich, it is usual for the Ed to post why she is closing a thread. On another point,no matter whether there was jury tampering or not, the maximum punishment for manslaughter is life imprisonment which is what this sorry bunch of morons deserve. We can but hope.
It’s just I’ve never seen a closed thread with an explanation. There isn’t one for the thread in question and possibly as a consequence this one has started instead
Getting into a debate over the rights and wrongs of a thread being closed or a post or thread being deleted is rarely productive.

The EDs are not obliged to justify their decisions and folk need to accept that, even if they disagree with that approach.
Peter Pedant - // the mods and eds have a poor understanding about comment on legal cases //

Another sweeping criticism based on absolutely no knowledge whatsoever, your support is always appreciated!
The thread in question was closed late at night so was closed by a mod, not an Ed. For a mod to announce that a thread has been closed removes his anonymity.
Jack, I don't think that many mods are anonymous.
danny - // Jack, I don't think that many mods are anonymous. //

I think the majority are anonymous, and when the observe the flack that those of us who are identified receive, I would imagine that would want to stay that way!
Most known mods don't receive flack.
Just agreeing with Ich on a point of clarity, I have never seen a reason given by the Eds just a comment along lines of 'this thread is now closed"
Andy, How many Mods are there? I know of at least four.

Danny, I think if they are given a life sentence then the judge can also set a minimum tariff, say 30 years. If not then the sentence is subject to the usual reductions.
DANNY, there could be dozens of Mods for all we know.

I'm sure Mods have said in the past they don't know how many others there are.
