‘Bio-Secure Bubbles’ In Cricket

Well, what a farce this is. The England team have supposedly been in a bio-secure bubble for weeks; not allowed to go home and see their families, but they’re expected to drive themselves from Southampton to Manchester. What if they need petrol or a wee? Why not put them all in a coach?

Jofra Archer in trouble because he went to his home in Brighton on the way. But what madness to have them driving themselves. I think he’s being made a scapegoat for stupid, inconsistent rules by the team management and the government.

Any cricket fans - or anyone else - have a view on this?

I think there was an approved stopover at a ground somewhere.

It was Hove actually...
"there must be no breaks in the 230-mile journey bar the use of a designated biosecure county ground for lunch and pre-approved petrol stations."

Whether the rules are 'madness' or not, he would have been made very aware of them, and that on no account could he go to his home. He broke the rules and has paid the price. Personally, I don't mind, as I think he's overrated.
They'll probably fill up and go before they leave.
More Coronalunacy, I'm afraid.
Agree NJ.

Just more 'see how far we can control the masses'

But people will get it, Peter. That's what viruses do. They spread among their chosen hosts.

As far as I am aware, there were no serious consequences for any of the participants in the events you mention. That's presumably because they were all young and fit. We cannot keep everybody isolated from each other with ludicrous "distancing" rules for ever or even for much longer. It was announced today that 665,000 people have been taken off company payrolls between March and June. And that's just the beginning. There are 9m people being paid by the taxpayer and many of them are taking the opportunity, during their four month (and counting) break to sit at home, do bit of DIY, go to the pub or the bookies or go for a jolly to the coast. If they can do all that then they can go to work. One thing's for sure - when they eventually do return many of them will find there is no job for them. Yes, some of them will contract the virus but pointlessly trying to prevent its spread is bankrupting the country.
