I can't provide a link, but I have heard that after 31 December 2020 the E111 will no longer be valid to give protection to UK people who are in the EU. For me, that will be bad news. I have a second home in France and I may be liable to arrange private health insurance. That could be difficult because of my existing health issues. This seems to be one of the Brexit consequences that Brexiters didn't foresee or care about. Any comments?

I always knew we'd lose the protection of the E111 - I expect many people thought the same.
I knew about it but why should the freedoms of millions be beholden to the few that spend their money in another Country?

You will just have to use travel insurance. I would never have relied on EHIC anyway as it's only good for emergencies and wouldn`t cover repatriation
I also knew (it's been called EHIC for some time). To be fair I was also always aware not to rely on the EHIC even when we were in the EU, it only provided basic medical treatment and it has always been made clear you should have separate travel insurance as well.

Of course, I wasn't expecting any sympathetic replies; why should I? All the same, this will affect many people. It's just one of the many consequences that I don't think were foreseen, or even cared about.
An E111 hasn't been valid for 14 years. I assume that you're referring to the EHIC which, as you say, won't be valid for most UK citizens after the end of this year. However UK citizens who're in receipt of the state pension, and who already live in the EU, will continue to be covered (as will UK students who've already started a course at an EU institution):

Anti-Brexit campaigners frequently mentioned the potential loss of EHIC entitlement, so it's hardly surprising that it's happening.

Another one with a second home who wants everything free YMB, while demanding that everybody else is paying through the nose to protect the vun rabble.
You perhaps assumed that it was a consequence that Brexiters didn't foresee or care about - I didn't.
"All the same, this will affect many people"

Define 'many'.
Quite Togo.
Question Author
OK, I understand that many people here don't care about the loss of a few. It's not your problem, so why should you care? Togo: I didn't expect 'everything free' I just miss the mutual agreement that there was between the UK and EU that they would share the health care system between tax-payers of both countries. Of course I do. And of course others don't.
I've worked in Europe for a long time and my next port of call will be Portugal should I cry with you, Atheist?

TBH...not my style. Stiff upper lip old-boy we're British.
Question Author
Roy, I'm not crying. Why do you try to p me off?
Why do I p you off?
You nor anyone else on this site can not p me off.
Question Author
Roy, maybe best if you read what I write before making your riposte?
More focused on the football to be honest.
Question Author
Ah, that explains it. Stay with your football, and don't waste my time with half baked ripostes; first things first, after all!
There have always been reciprocal agreements between some countries. EHIC wasn't the first system that was in place. We got along OK before it and we will get along afterwards as well. There may yet be an agreement anyway, it just hasn't been agreed yet.https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/healthcare-when-travelling-abroad/travelling-outside-the-european-economic-area-eea/
