Looks like we'll have no option after 24 July - or is this the time for civil disobedience?

For the first time ever, I am going to look into on-line shopping (never thought I'd day that), yes Boris, the death knell for shops now, you idiot!
This is utterly stupid.

I need to cover my face to buy a loaf of bread, but I can sit in a pub for two hours without having to do so.
Yep ill thought out rowlocks DD.
Jackdaw - don't you think it's sensible to give people time to acquire face masks before you make them mandatory?
bhg; As has been pointed out several times, as long as the lower half of your face is covered, it matters not what you are using. So your argument doesn't really hold water.
Thanks for this post, was just about to leave the house without one :0(

You could probably pop in a shop and buy one Bobbi :-) Wonder just how many shops will start selling masks/face coverings now.
Too little too late...why was this not brought in weeks ago? I will be wearing one in shops...as I have done for a couple of months. I have, hopefully, avoided getting ill from the virus and would like to continue to do so. If people wear their masks indoors then they are less likely to spread the disease further. That is not rocket science because even I can understand it. I do find this governments inability to set rules at appropriate times and stick to them very very disappointing
I am pretty sure the idea of this is to encourage people to go shopping, so it makes sense to leave it a couple of weeks, to get people used to the idea.
Whether it is a GOOD idea is another matter :-)
Ken - I don't understand your comment on my post. I commented that a delayed implementation gave people time to buy masks, which some people prefer to wear than hanging a scarf around their face. I am not splitting hairs between masks and face-coverings.
I have just ordered a niqab from Amazon. Hope I don't start muttering Allahu Akbar when I'm out and about.
I've been wearing a face covering/mask in shops for some time, so compulsory doesn't bother me at all. Do I care what others think, not at all! Each to their own, if you don't want to wear one or it 'disresses' you then don't go shopping.

I also 'lip read' because of hearing issues and I've not had anyone shouting and screaming at me, methinks over exagerrated.

They've been available for some in retail shops and obviously online for even longer.
bhg; I was merely re-iterating what has been pointed out on several threads; that it is not necessarily face masks we will be forced to wear. Your statement, however, does beg the question, if there are those who prefer masks to hanging scarves around their face, surely they must already be in possession of masks? How else would they know their preference?
I don't possess a scarf.
bhg: "Can I believe what I read? Is TTT saying that Boris is issuing bad advice? " - Not bad as such just unnecessary, the gov is trying to please the thick people.
Who are "the thick people"?
JD: "I have just ordered a niqab from Amazon. Hope I don't start muttering Allahu Akbar when I'm out and about. !" - half measures me old china, I'm going full Burka!
If you have to ask TCL.....
bhg @ 09:11; "I don't possess a scarf."
Ken4155 @ 08:52; "....it matters not what you are using." :-)
