damn savages should be thrashed to within an inch of their miserable lives.
Who is the idiot ?

The girl for stopping a swan being killed, or the bloke who then attacked her with a pole ?
The youth who threw the man in the canal!
Question Author
sorry meant singular idiot, the stupid boy who pushed the man into the water.
Idiot comes waving a pole about. Needed cooling down. Not really sure why this is national news, or worthy of much discussion.

The swans were mating.
Gromit
The pole is a boat hook. The man was probably the boatowner who was negotiating the lock.
Th woman may have been well intentioned but best she never travel to the Serengeti because she will very likely mauled to death. It is called nature and is best left alone without interference from humans with good intent or not.Wild creatures are always territorial or protective. Fighting is what they do. May be the man with the boat hook was trying to suggest this to the woman who may have done more harm to the swans by allegedly kicking them.
Boathook man may not of been able to swim or struck his head whilst falling. Who knows how deep the water was there ? That could of been a manslaughter incident.
The report claims that they were not mating, but fighting over territory.

//The report claims that they were not mating, but fighting over territory//

Whatever. As I wrote previously. Creatures are territorial in the wild. Swans are not pets. Lions fight for territory but it would be a fool who tries to seperate them.
I think retro is about right the girl was probably doing what she thought would separate the swans who we are told were fighting. The bloke with boat hook was basically pointing with it, if you listen to gromit you'd have thought he was waving a 6 ft scaffold pole about like Ghengis Khan!. The villain here is that idiot shoving the bloke in, close to that boat he could well have wacked his head.
String ‘em up! Hanging’s too good for them! Bring back the dogs!
Mozz, the report doesn't say that. It simply quotes some people saying the swans were fighting, and quotes other people saying they were mating.

Either way, they should not be interfered with and certainly not kicked. Nor does anyone have the right to push another person.
I wonder if they've caught the moron yet who killed a cygnet by kicking it out of the way as he jogged past?
when was that marge?
Oh gosh TTT I'm no good with links, but it was a couple of weeks or so ago and he was jogging past a pair of swans with their cygnets and he just kicked two of the cygnets out of the way instead of trying to avoid them. It died later at an animal sanctuary of head injuries, but the other one got back into the water in time and lived. He's a bloke about 60ish and apparently the police are looking for him. Saw it on Mail Online.
gawd, I can't abide cruelty to animals, what a toe rag.
He is indeed TTT, I hope they catch him, I keep checking.
Thanks barry (again)!
