Excellent!!
Thanks for posting this, Captain23. I think he's right.
It is a good article from a man in the know, but I wonder what Chilldoubt will make of it?
Nothing we haven’t heard before in that article though is there! New Judge, for one, has put pretty much all those points forward, except perhaps the last bit about people can be trusted!
ive always thought that...just obey the rules like using sanitizer when coming out of stores etc.. *small bottles can be easily carried around "
and before you do anything else when you get home thoroughly wash you hands most importantly never touch the facial area before you do this,
NickorWan, it's all fallen on deaf ears. Too many self-appointed experts on AB.
I havew to confess to being a firm advocate of 'Lockdown' at the onset.
This Doctor/Professor certainly debunks the scientific advice that the government suggests every day. Ten convincing reasons ,imo, to ease up asap on Lockdown. No AB armchair scientists can provide better reasons why we should continue. I am coping very well, thank you ,during these trying times but, although of a vulnerable age,I am retired and have no financial worries. I am sure the privations and inconvenience endured over 75 years ago were a darned sight worse. I for one would be happy to suck it and see. I am not over impressed with our government scientists so far.
Well, I am not one off them, Naomi, well at least in the field of viruses. That's why I am willing to go with the Government, with no idea whether it is the right approach or not.
Nick, I've gone with the government too - but like New Judge, I have reservations. So much of it makes little sense.
This comes from someone with the relevant medical background, and as such it should carry rather more weight than New Judge's opinions (as well considered as these appear to be).

As for 'nothing we haven't heard before' - we've heard just about everything before, on almost every aspect of this virus - this just adds a bit more weight on to one side of an ongoing debate.
point one...20,000 wasn't a prediction. The actual quote was that we would be lucky to keep deaths down to 20,000.
I am also not crazy about his QALY concept.
Its arguable that a younger person who has many more QALY's left can afford to lose more than an older person who has less.
There are many more differences between the UK and Sweden apart from lockdown/no lockdown.
and now I am bored.
I totally agree with Dr Lee. Unfortunately panic, fear, appalling media fixation exaggerated and thereby exacerbated the situation. When books are written in the future we will be abashed at governments and the publics response.
speak for yourself david.
I just did.
D.S.
I can agree with you there.
//this just adds a bit more weight on to one side of an ongoing debate.//

It doesn't though because he has said it all before, and we have debated his views before.
What amazes me is that some have read various views on the matter and 'know' what the right approach should be. I have read a lot myself and haven't a clue!
There' to many self-appointed judges as well on AB.
indeed, NickorWan, it doesn't seem to me that a retired pathologist has any particular claim to be a "better" scientist than any other. People say he is if they already agree with him. All scientists who say things I don't agree with are bogus.
There isn't a time limit on ideas - the debate is ongoing and, at the moment, this 'idea' is gaining traction.

I haven't seen anyone on AB asserting they 'know' with certainty - not even Dr John Lee.

My comparison was (respectfully) between New Judge and Dr John Lee - not another, 'better' scientist.
