Very very few bands and musicians can claim to have invented a musical format, and to be instantly recognisable for ever. Kraftwerk were one of those bands. A very very sad loss.

I remember an interview with Phil Oakey who, when asked to define electronic music, said something like "There's Kraftwerk and then there's the rest of us".

They were stunning live.
