Perhaps they can shoot themselves out of this crisis? (Said very tongue in cheek.)

As I have said before some people view elderly / sick peoples lives as collateral and cant stand the restrictions placed upon them to prevent deaths and limit infections.

But this is a whole state (and I suspect there are others) which has, seemingly, decided to ignore the current and predicted daily death tolls.
Mixed messages from every level of the country's administration doesn't help. I am not thinking of Trump alone here, either. Different State Governors offering different, often contradictory advice. That and just general hubris.

It’s a very strange situation for sure. I know the US runs a Federal system but this just seems crazy.

It makes just about the same sense!
Lady J, more like shooting themselves in the foot ;-)
I see someone took janine's suggestion already...

A few States haven't locked down at all and they don't seem to have any worse figures than lockdown States (yet)
Spicerack do you know the names of the States that have no locked down?
thank you Zacs for BA.
Not off the top of my head. I've seen maps.
Jim - I had already read that and the fact on the shut down of business premises in the US had exempted gun shops as they are considered essential. I try hard but I cannot understand the mindset of people that think like this.
Which came first -- the lockdown or the spike in cases?

Not all states are equally affected, it is true, because the dynamics of disease spread are too complicated to be uniform. In general, though, common sense tells you that the fewer restrictions apply, the easier it will be for a disease to spread, once it establishes a presence. Those states who haven't applied have therefore been lucky up to now.

Jim, just a further example of the strangeness of the US.
I think America is a victim of it's own obsession with 'freedom' and an overly complex administration system.
as TGM said, the US will always do the right thing as soon as it has exhausted all other possibilities.
Question Author
^^^A truism!
Ah yes freedom.
And lawmen like Why A Twerp, Billy Goat Kid, The Stoned Stranger.
