Spicerack; I have actually seen some of those speeches by Trump in which he has made those comments. They are not taken out of context. The clip is edited so as to make it far shorter than it would have been had they been played in entirety.

I didn't see anything wrong with the tweets you posted, jim. I see no political capital being made, I see a leader calming the fears of the people by downplaying the virus. Much like our leader did and many others, I'm sure.

However, I would say to tamborine, that "Trump's foresight saved a pandemic in USA..." is clearly premature. The disease has been circulating in the US for weeks, despite Trump's ban on travel from China. The US now has the fourth-highest number of official cases in the world. Some of that is down to a rapid increase in testing, but the pandemic has reached the US.
