Due to the corona virus many people have put hugs, handshakes and kisses etc on hold.
My brother showed me an alternative greeting yesterday, that someone had showed him.
which I believe is known as the "foot shake" .
The foot is lifted and tapped on the other persons foot, right to left, then left to right.
Do you think it will catch on ?
I hope not. I like my shoes highly polished and if somebody starts to tap my shoes I'll be inventing a new type of greeting, based on the left hook :o)
We’ll all be doing the Japanese hands together and nod soon, last night I went out and saw people I hand seen for a while and before I knew it I was being bear hugged by them individually :0(
We had a small (7 people) reunion the other day. As we arrived at the hosts we all avoided hugs etc. By the time it came to leave a few hours later we realised that we'd all been served with tea/coffee and we'd sat together round a dining table and passed the serving dishes between us, so it was hugs all round.
At least people being ridiculously hypercareful might slow the spread when it gets to the full epidemic phase, the slower it spreads the better the NHS will cope especially If we can hold off the peak until normal winter pressures are over.
A business opportunity here for an entrepreneur to produce a badge, ribbon, or necklace that indicates, "Don't touch, no exchange of bodily fluids."
It might catch on.
A lepers bell," Unclean, unclean!"
Just been speaking to a church-going relative of mine who told me that, in the service today, they all shook hands at the Peace Be With You part. Then, they drank out of the same communion cup and, at the end of the service, hugged as they said their goodbyes.
I would have done none of those things, to be honest.
