if the virus is caught from droplets in the air and by touching your face area before washing your hands etc, then its like any virus, but seeing these already infected people being stretchered around in sealed trolleys and staff walking round in what can only be called space like suits seems to me more dangerous than that,
the people being transferred from aircraft returning home to hospital in a bus escorted with police cars, a bit OTT there not terrorists ?
what will be really tragic is if this is spread to the type of Mumbai slum areas and the refugee camps where people are cramped together.

I think that the issue is that there is currently no vaccination for it and people have no natural immunity. If allowed to let rip it will run through the population like infuenza used to and potentially kill the old, frail, babies and so on.
oh and PS yes if it gets to cardboard cities or refugee camps it won't be pretty.
As regards to droplets in the air? this is a new virus and they cannot be sure of how it spreads, they I believe, are treating it as droplets in the air, but also by other means, hence the protective clothing. Nothing is OTT when dealing with a new virus.
It's unbelievable really, countries are taking all the measures to contain the spread and then all the news channels send reporters in so that they can get pictures of affected areas, why is that allowed? Why do they have to stand right next to affected areas just for a report. At lunch time there were three BBC reporters in three different affected countries. How irresponsible is that?!
Also when there was a case confirmed in a GPs in Bristol I think it was, there was a team disinfecting the pharmacy being filmed by a film crew doing it, is it me or what??
this is being labelled a Pandemic, Italy is cordoning off certain areas as they have many cases of it. I know that it's easily transportable and indeed if it gets into
certain high density areas who knows, i find it quite
chilling really.
i`m sure they are taking samples from the people who recover to identifiy the antibodies.
Well, I guess reporters are expendable.
Emmie - it is NOT yet being called a pandemic so no need for the scaremongering. Let's all keep a sense of proportion.

it is according to the BBC news.
This is the latest BBC news from their website so it's not yet a pandemic:

"The World Health Organization has said the world should do more to prepare for a possible coronavirus pandemic.

The WHO said it was too early to call the outbreak a pandemic but countries should be "in a phase of preparedness".
Apparently a hotel on the island of Tenerife is in quarantine after an Italian from the outbreak region went to hospital after feeling unwell. The hotel has been named as the H10 Costa Adeje. The mans results have been sent to Madrid as per protocol.
Em, from your own link. //The WHO said it was too early to call the outbreak a pandemic but countries should be "in a phase of preparedness".\\
It is not a pandemic, yet.
ok, but quite honestly it's not too far off.
2,500 dead in China and other deaths in Iran, Italy,
and so on, not good..
