Sounds like the police should have arrested currys staff for wasting their time.

That wouldn't wash with me either! Glad he had a refund.
the customer was in the right, why did they feel the need to involve the police... if he was told to return the item then that;s what he did. If that were me i would be asking for a refund. If no refund take them to trading standards.
so he got a refund, i didn't read that far, sorry...
Currys PC World are well-known for their appalling customer service.

If you take a laptop in for repair they charge you a flat fee of £60, even if it only takes them 30 seconds to fix the problem. Further, if they can't immediately see what's causing a problem, they have a nasty habit of simply wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Windows (even when it's actually totally unnecessary to do so) as it's a 'quick fix' for them. However that means that the customer loses all their documents, images, videos and other files, often without even being warned that it will happen.

I returned a malfunctioning printer to them a few months ago and, like the customer in the news item, I was refused a replacement item and told that I'd have to wait at least 28 days for a repair to be carried out. It was only after I kicked up a big fuss that I eventually got them to refund my money (so that I could then buy exactly the same model of printer from them again). At least they didn't call Pc Plod though ;-)
How that shower are still in business is anyone's guess.
frankly PC world are the most un knowledgeable bunch of rissoles I've ever seen. It'd the last place anyone should take a PC let alone buy one.
regarding the OP who'd spend £402 on a WM? they are half that on AOL.
AOL?

I've heard of AO.
Well done to Carl for standing his ground. I wonder if that's Mrs. Warburton in the background wishing she was not actually there. :-)
who was it that leaked this story?
It all came out in the wash in the end.
PC World taking advantage of their name.

Wouldn't it be nice if they were charged with wasting police time..
I guess one of the soaps could pick it up as a story line.....
Don't mess with a Stokie - especially not from Neck End!!
^I was just going to say 'stokies again' (raised eyes emoji)

I'm damned if I would load a heavy washing machine in to the back of my car and return it to the store. Curry's either have to collect and replace or send an engineer. Whichever is the sooner.
Andy, Neck End is Longton. Carl's from Chell.
Agree Retro i'd be asking for compo for being faffed about and all the petrol and heavy lifting.

Why wouldn't the store comply with the head office is beyond me. He should have phones them on the spot whilst in store, why go home to come back again?
