I would never say never but I haven't flown anywhere for around 25 years now and have no plans to do so.

Depending on your destination and time limitations, alternative means of travel are not always a viable option. Fine to hop on the train to Paris - but Australia would present a bit of a problem.

..... same here. What's the alternative if I want to go to the Canaries for example?? It's a 4 1/2 hour flight as it is - if you can teleport me there, then yea, I'll take it :)

It's three years since I went on a plane - nothing to do with 'climate', just that the whole airport experience is now so oppressive that I will avoid if at all possible.

In 2018 we drove to The Algarve and The Sud Tirol - both were infinitely better holidays than the equivalent trip by air - relaxed, calm and with all our 'stuff' - and the ability to bring back souvenirs (and wine !).

Now as a Kerry resident I hope/expect to be exploring Ireland in 2020, and then using the continental ferries if I need some sun in susbsequent years.

Over the last few decades I've so rarely traveled by plane (probably zero times in the last two) that I see no reason to deny myself if I opt to take a vacation or two in the future. I feel I'm owed the opportunity to do so having not been adding to the problem in the past.

I never fly short haul and these days can't afford to fly much at all. Actually I much prefer trains short haul (I don't drive partly for eco reasons; I've been a bit of a tree hugger since the 70s), not least because the security gates at Edinburgh Airport are a nightmare and the time gained is not worth it. But if I was going beyond the channel, I'd almost certainly fly (from Scotland; when I was a Londoner, Eurostar was preferable as far as Paree).

At the moment I'd forego airtravel due to this Coronovirus. Certainly long haul. It'll be a while before we return to Japan.

Having just flown over USA & seen some of this massive continent of snow, arid desert, huge barren mountains, forests & volcanos occupying 25% of land surrounded by oceans, fuel/plastics/unfriendly EVs are miniscule pollutants.

I think my answer would have to be yes. I'm afraid this problem is not going away until we take some serious action. We tend not to act to a problem until it smacks us in the face, when that happens it will be far to late to reverse. At a certain age it would be easy no, who cares, I do, I want young children including my grandchildren to have a life that I've had.
