The PM is bang on the US are unlikely to extradite and there is little we can do beyond tit for tat refusal to comply with their requests.

They say, if you want to get away with murder in the UK then just run someone over. Especially if they're a cyclist. Obviously this situation is different, but I'm sure if she stabbed him then she wouldn't have been allowed diplomatic immunity.
Don't we still hold Julian Assage as a bargaining chip? The Swedes say they don't want him any more.
typo Assange
// I'm sure if she stabbed him then she wouldn't have been allowed diplomatic immunity. //

I don't think she has diplomatic immunity any more which is why they're talking about extradition.
The PM is right though, there's no chance of it ever happening because the Americans won't co-operate with it and have said so. As upsetting as that may be for the family, there's no reason why he shouldn't say it.
The family had agreed with government officials not to comment on the extradition process while proceedings were ongoing ... but Johnson himself thought it appropriate to say that the the process had little chance of success, on the birthday of the dead boy's mother.
The PM is correct. Whether he should have commented on what is essentially an ongoing legal decision is another matter.

Mr Dunn was not murdered. He was the victim of a road traffic collision and Ms Sacoolas was charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Diplomatic immunity - if Ms Socoolas was entitled to it - is not dependant on the charge that is preferred. It is absolute and can only be waived by the official's home nation.

Possibly because it makes it even less likely to occur if the PM states it's unlikely. Takes away a little more hope they had. It's undiplomatic and may well affect the outcome.
The truth, in most situations does hurt. His family not only hurt, but must feel very frustrated.
Should Trump not win a second term, could the next administration grant the extradition?
BoJo is correct, if he lied and said she would be bought back here then the usual would be up in arms about the lies.

Unfortunately this is one of those things one can do little about.
They can only hope that some day her conscience gets the better of her. Put yourself in her shoes at the moment, your can't kid me that every morning she wakes up, this is not nagging her every day, all day? The longer she puts it off the worse its going to get in my view.
^
If this was "nagging her every day, all day" she would never get behind the wheel of a car again. As it is, she has already done so. I just wonder how she can ever chastise her kids if they do wrong.
Why is stating the facts so wrong here?

excuse me - werent you the one who had my comment on diplomatic immunity and the our man in Tehran who arrested, removed the other day? I had linked it to this - along with some original rhyming slang.
( awful kerfuffle and floor full of coal scuttle)

and my qeustion was - why is stating the fact they were linked so worng that it was flushed darn the jarn ?

horses for courses

1)and actually your fact is wrong - no one the UK has asked to be extradited from the US has so far failed
2) refused extradition isnt a fact ( yet ) - altho it may be a future fact (very difficult - has legal meaning)
3) it is an opinion - and a correct opinion is a bit of a minefiekd
4) politicians should NOT comment on live issues - even if you are Trump ( very difficult for ABers - straightforward for everyone else)

er I have run out of reasons
"Boris Johnson told the BBC that he believed the chances of Mrs Sacoolas being extradited were "very low"."

Which they are. So?
// As it is, she has already done so. I just wonder how she can ever chastise her kids if they do wrong.//

no she would just run them over ! ter daaah !

and then say oops I meant run along but I was in England
// Which they are. So?//
er invalid convlusion if the previous success is 100%
PP //politicians should NOT comment on live issues //

What!!! What the hell are they supposed to talk on then; dead issues?
@12.35 I don't think anyone knows what she's really doing or thinking day by day, but when you know you've killed someone in a collision, its not something you can put behind you.
I'm sure some sort of deal can and will be arranged. How about the American stands trial but stays in America. She is found guilty, receives a prison sentence and goes to prison. Under American law a person can be fined for dangerous driving, so she pays a fine and is released. I know this looks like a manipulation of two countries laws but doesn't manipulation of laws happen everyday?

Does anyone know the circumstances under which the BBC were communicating with BoJo? Did he call them and tell them or did they ask him in an interview?
