I don't know whether shooting 10,000 of them will help. There are about a third of a million camels in Australia and they are prolific breeders. The problem is not only that they drink a lot of water. In their wanderings they also destroy crops and damage infrastructure. They were introduced to Oz in the 19th century to help with transport and construction but were turned loose when motorised vehicles became available.
And many of them starve to death in Australia's massive interior. I really do think Australia is not a place for humans either.
Poor creatures, I hope it's quick and painless for them.
used as pack animals in C19

dont any of you have memories - a gurl decided to go across Oz on a camel around 30 y ago. She was met by a group of aborigines who determined that she would die unless one went with her ! Their view of the landscope involves humans and a dead woman would be an unnecessary blot ( no - really) - and they didnt want to spoil it

So one loped along with madarm on a camel until she met civilisation - a homestead farm where the wife said
what about a nice cup of tea ?

the aborigine went back to his family at a rendy-vous they had agreed three weeks previously

doesnt anyone remember?

There's a lot of these drunken camels hanging around the Wetherpoons at Gatwick. They need culling so I can get to the bar.
