God help the UK if Corbyn got in.We only have Trident as a deterrent and he would probably flog it to his pals in Hamas. This country seriously requires a logistics upgrade. No serious armoured Regiments,Parachute Brigades, Naval attack ships, depleted RAF squadrons.

Yeah, cos there are thousands of countries just waiting to invade the UK, if it does away with the bomb. Amazing that countries like Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, etc. etc. have managed to survive.
Who would want to invade Switzerland anyway? :-)

On a serious note, as a member of NATO would the UK be allowed to get rid of Trident by its fellow members?

I don't know anything about the requirements of being a member of NATO tho.

And under which Party has most of this depletion happened - the Tory Party. Place the blame where it belongs, not in mere prejudiced speculation.
Corbyn said he would retain Trident or so i thought..
UK is a major player in NATO and the UN. As long as both sides have a nuclear deterrent it will never be used.
that is how it's supposed to be isn't it....
Indeed it is emmie. Apart from that, the UK/USA alliance is the strongest in the world.
if they want to relocate Trident down to say Portsmouth, sure they would be happy to accommodate them some time in the future.
Portsmouth would be ideal. I used to live near there.
i know it well, have family who live on south coast.
I lived in Bedhampton, then Waterlooville. Spent a lot of time on the Solent and taking boats across the Channel.
sounds like you had a good time down there..
I did indeed. I love being on the water. The Solent can be tricky, there are sandbars all over the place, they can move between tides. I had my first boat when I was seven, a six foot blue dinghy with a wee triangular red sail. I loved it!
surprised you didn't join the navy...
Although I was in the army I spent a lot of time on the water. We had a sailing team in the regiment. Lots of competitions.
what a way to spend your time, sounds like an interesting tale..
It's what you make of it emmie.
i can believe it,
We used to sail on one of the lakes that the Dambusters bombed. There is a village in the bottom of the lake, when the water level is low the village church spire is visible.
you will have to tell me about it one day.
