£4,500 average for 'worst' 20 cases.

Do you think they're extraordinary amounts or maybe it's the same everywhere and you feel they are justified?

Cheers ZM didn't read that far. I see it was a court that determined that placement and more than £2,000 a day does appear a lot but we have no idea what all was involved.

For £16.5k every week I might even consider it myself.
What sort of problems ?
And can I keep them in the shed ?
"Of these, three of the placements cost more than £5,000 a week, with the most expensive costing £8,000."

Where does your £16,500 figure come from?
They are extraordinary amounts. For extraordinary cases, the fact of which we’ll never know.
It comes from the article, TCL

I hate cheeky kids, too, but for that money....

TCL. £550,000 for about 8 months. Amazing.
It doesn't explain where the money goes.
As briefly outlined in the article this amount will include many factors including the cost of paying the salaries of any one to one or two to one care.

Without a full breakdown of each individual case, we cannot really judge.
There's nothing to stop you applying to become a Foster parent, those figures are touched on in the article too.

It's a very worthwhile thing to do if you are able.

It's £98 per hour on average - the £16.5k figure, if at some times there needs to be two people with them, cannot share accommodation and kept monitored then you can see how costs could get to this amount.
Some of these 'Kids' are SO bad they MUST have 2 carers each,ALL the time! That is for an 8 hour shift ! So 3x 8 hour shifts a day with 2 carers each shift ! Plus 'Relief carers ' to cover times off , holiday and sick leave . Work it out !!!!
Such kids used to be placed in 'care homes' with secure locked rooms and padded walls ! They were also allowed to be given 'tranquiliser 'medication to calm them down ,but that was found to be 'In-Human' by the 'Human Rights' brigade ! The result is the situation we have now !!!
I used to know a guy who had been a carer for a 'worse case' patient. He gave it up after being hospitalised (for the 5th time! ) after being attacked by the patient who had managed to grab a glass vase and smash it to make a weapon then try to kill him !!
You pays your money, you have no choice.
