Khafi Kareem ,a Met police officer asked for leave to go to Nigeria ( to take part in their version of Big Brither ) her request was turned down but she went anyway, whilst there she had sex with another housemate live on TV
My opinion, Yes she should be sacked,if you ask your employer for time off and you take it anyway , isn't that gross misconduct ?

Yes, I do, actually. My parents were *both* Police Officers and when you join you accept that being a Police Officer is pretty much a 24/7/365 occupation.

I don't see the reason for fuss. She was allowed to go into the programme. It's know that some contestants get up to some hanky panky. Big blooming deal. Wasn't like she was parading herself around naked except for her policewoman's hat, and swinging someone's truncheon.

Discussing Ugandan affairs in Nigeria, how confusing.

Dole queue, post haste.
So she should, especially as (we) are short staffed.
I do not believe it is Gross Misconduct more bringing the department into disrepute.
She was not refused leave, she was refused permission to go onto the show - slightly different.
Is she any good at her job?

I think that's the defining factor.

The fact she had sex on TV is moot.

The factors that are important are:
How is she at work
Is she good at her job
what's her attendance like
Can the police afford to let her go over something so petty
Did she go AWOL or was the time off approved
"She was not refused leave, she was refused permission to go onto the show - slightly different."

It is the same thing intolerance to authority....a modern tendency.

Yes, she should be sacked.
Do they have the authority to say she can't go on the show though..?

Surely if they approve leave, she can do as she wishes with her time off?

This just in! police are not allowed to lead normal lives of fun..

well at least that explains retro

Spath you think a British police officer having sex live on tv is moot?
A few days ago there was a tale of a constable playing with the short arm of the law in his car and now this young woman displays her mastery of horizontal jogging on camera.

Have the police a developing problem with exhibitionism?

Exposure required.
/// Khafi Kareem, 29, was previously hand-picked for a picture with Commissioner Cressida Dick as the Met celebrated 100 years of women in the force in November last year. ///

/// In March, she was invited to the West End premier of Captain Marvel alongside Deputy Commissioner Lucy D’Orsi. ///

I wonder why she was specially picked?
Missed the refusal bit, but seems to me she ought not need to ask permission anyway. I feel the force is acting like Big Brother.

Sqad,I took this topic whilst watching Jeremy Vine, my apologies as it was said on there she'd been refused leave and took it unpaid anyway ??
"Spath you think a British police officer having sex live on tv is moot?"

Yes.
"I wonder why she was specially picked?"

Because she's an attractive, diverse example of a female police officer.
It really amounts to a British police officer taking part in porn, on TV. not a good message to send.

I agree teacakes
