Khafi Kareem ,a Met police officer asked for leave to go to Nigeria ( to take part in their version of Big Brither ) her request was turned down but she went anyway, whilst there she had sex with another housemate live on TV
My opinion, Yes she should be sacked,if you ask your employer for time off and you take it anyway , isn't that gross misconduct ?

Yes, I do, actually. My parents were *both* Police Officers and when you join you accept that being a Police Officer is pretty much a 24/7/365 occupation.

My question is did she need permission?
The met office released a statement that said
"The Met does not support the officer's appearance nor does she represent the Met whilst appearing on the show."

So the met have admitted that whilst she's on the show, she doesn't represent the MET. As they've said that... it'll be hard to dump "professional standards" on her head.

Probably the same as Cressida Dick will ael
The question that should be asked is why in particular was she given extended leave, when we are so short of police officers? Especially taking into account her race, surely her time would be better spent addressing the stabbings and killings amongst the black communities.
Yes. No discussing required .

Well that's killed this thread then haha
Of course she shouldn't be sacked. If she was "at work", then yes. Otherwise, it is none of their business.

That's what I said Spath...that one comment has tossed any kind of professional standards disciplinary out the window.
"Not support" doesn't mean ban?
I'd let her handcuff me any day.

It's questionable if the Sun article is acceptable or not. It's defaming a MET police officer without her permission, or her side of the story.

If anything is wrong her, it's the publicity this has got. I wouldn't have knew about it if the sun didn't report on it, so surely they should be in trouble for bringing negative attention to the metropolitan police force?

The media is as much to blame for defamatory material being directed towards the met as the lady is for her actions.

AOG extended leave doesn't mean she got extra, it means that she got to take more of her leave at once than is normally allowed. She will still spend the same amount of time at work...indeed depending on when she took the leave, it may have been an advantage to her department as she will then be available to cover other more popular leave periods. One of my staff used to book the same two leave periods every year, in february and march. Everyone else was very happy with this as she never took leave in the summer and rarely at christmas.
She obviously didn't adhere to the Rules of conduct set down by the police force. Her Senior officers were following the rules and if they hadn't then they would have been negligent .
She definitely should be sacked.
// The question that should be asked is why in particular was she given extended leave //

Reading between the lines of the police statement, it looked like she lied to them about the reason she wanted to take the leave.

indeed pixie...bit of a backpedal there.....
Is it a requirement to explain what you would like to do with your personal leave? I think not.
From the link :-
//Publicity from the reality series shows Khafi, who is from Ekiti, Nigeria, wearing her Met Police uniform amid claims she is a talented dancer and singer.
So what was she representing?

Spath, it is only "defamatory" if it is wrong. And if it is something negative.
spath----- I would suggest that you read the Rules of conduct.
Herself, Danny.
How is she bringing discredit onto the force? The media are bringing discredit to the force, not a woman, sleeping with a man, under covers in a bed that happens to be on 24/hr TV.
