Khafi Kareem ,a Met police officer asked for leave to go to Nigeria ( to take part in their version of Big Brither ) her request was turned down but she went anyway, whilst there she had sex with another housemate live on TV
My opinion, Yes she should be sacked,if you ask your employer for time off and you take it anyway , isn't that gross misconduct ?

Yes, I do, actually. My parents were *both* Police Officers and when you join you accept that being a Police Officer is pretty much a 24/7/365 occupation.

I know, Ken. I meant they knew she wanted leave and knew why, although didn't "support" her. I doubt they are daft.
You don't have to read through all the links (There are many more I can find)
Every link within a few lines categorically states that she appeared on the show although permission had been denied or she went against the refused permission by senior officers .
That is refusing to obey a lawful order by any normal serving officer's understanding.
Some of the links stated she was granted leave with relation to another matter but , despite being denied official permission to appear on the show, she abused the leave privelege granted to her and disobeyed the order.
Now that may be quite difficult for some to comprehend but if you have never accepted or been subject to discipline codes I cannot make it any simpler coming from one who served in the same Police Force and DID accept the discipline.

// Now that may be quite difficult for some to comprehend //

People are being deliberately obtuse.
Retro // who served in the same Police Force and DID accept the discipline. //
As we all did back in the days of decency and sensibility.
Thanks retro, that makes more sense, if they are accurate. Although only one of them gives her side just slightly.

//Yes, I agree the uniform shouldn't be worn unless working.//

Yes that was the precise point I made at 1503. She used the uniform as a Publicity TV prop
I said that a long time ago too, retro.
After extensive reading i can conclude that the lady in question may or may not get disciplined.

IF she does get disciplined, it would be for going against her higher ranking officers orders. (She was told she was to not go on the show)

Her disciplinary would have nothing to do with the fact she had sex on TV.

Newspapers luv a twist dough dunt dey.

You could have realised that by reading the original link supplied on page 1 of this thread.
My first thought when I read the OP was, "Oh no. The Met has shot themself in the foot again" I then discovered they were two different women.
It would appear the Met Publicity Machine has a lot to learn and do not learn by the last Publicity stunt that cost them the bad publicity they didn't want.
That's the problem with pushing forward chosen selective 'Poster Girls'. A PR disaster which achieves negative publicity.

From the link on page one (the metro)

"Brit cop facing sack for going on Nigerian Big Brother and having sex"

and having sex is the key aspect. They are roping the fact she went into big brother, and the fact she had sex, into the same category being "the reason she may face the sack".

This isn't the case at all.
My two-penneth, sack her for bringing the service into disrepute. Her moral disrepute, and indifference to common decency display her unsuitability to be in a profession that should exemplify responsibility.
//A Met Police officer is facing the sack after appearing on Nigeria’s Big Brother without permission from the force’s bosses.//

Thats the first sentence. Facing the sack for appearing without permission from her boss.

What is so difficult to understand the main reason for a possible dismissal?

//"Brit cop facing sack for going on Nigerian Big Brother and having sex" and having sex is the key aspect.///

Nope. That would be,
"Brit cop facing sack for having sex whilst appearing on Nigerian Big Brother."
AOG - // The question that should be asked is why in particular was she given extended leave, when we are so short of police officers? Especially taking into account her race, surely her time would be better spent addressing the stabbings and killings amongst the black communities //

Is there any thread that you can't shoehorn race and 'black on black stabbings' into?
It would appear that the central core of a potential dismissal is whether or not this lady's employers decide she has acted improperly in going against an express refusal to appear on the television show.

The rest is fluff and prurience.
"The rest is fluff and prurience."

And that's AB!

Tarr Darr ;)
// this lady's employers decide she has acted improperly in going against an express refusal //

you have to get permission for extra curricular activities/employment - for rather obvious reasons

and she ddidnt

I think there is case law - - -transgression of a rule such as this is not automatic dismissal but depends on the facts - so there has to be a hearing - and I cant remember if the standard is criminal ( beyond reasonable doubt) or civil ( balance of probabilities).
Retro will know ( hi retro!) and he seems to understand my posts this evg

[ or be cognisant of .... oops clench your buttocks reader, and pucker your cheeks]
Yes she should.
She is a disgrace to the uniform others wear with pride.
