Bide your time AOG, someone will describe him as black or white soon enough. I do wonder what would be your preference ?
AOG what would the colour of the assailant tell you, or us as society?

All it will tell you i their colour, that's literally it. This will cause prejudice opinions and will help fuel the fire that is racial stereotyping.

What i think would be best, is if we knew the persons complete background, area raised, school attended, employment etc.. Actually discover something useful, where we can piece together where, why and how this man became so violent.
That information is known as antecedents and I am sure data protection law or human rights law would disbar that info to the media.
Aye but they'll let em blast what colour the man has, when all that does is damage our society.

All info or none.

/// AgChristie, my main point is... The colour of the assailant is moot. It teaches us absolutely nothing. It doesn't let us know the persons background, it doesn't let us know where they are form, it doesn't let us know their nationality, their mental health history, it doesn't let us know why they committed an attack... it's utterly moot. ///

I am sorry but the colour of assailant's skin is far from moot, as we are constantly told to address their background, i.e. poor housing, lack of male influence in their families, lack of youth facilities etc, etc all these things could be aimed at white youths but never are.

Yes many may be born here but many of these families originate from the Caribbean or African countries and these can't be described as law abiding peaceful countries, by any stretch of the imagination.

Perhaps this is why there is a proportional high number of black criminals in our prisons?
"all these things could be aimed at white youths but never are. "

I think you need to double check that.

"Yes many may be born here but many of these families originate from the Caribbean or African countries and these can't be described as law abiding peaceful countries, by any stretch of the imagination. "

Aye and someones colour tells you where they were born does it?

"Perhaps this is why there is a proportional high number of black criminals in our prisons?"

Or maybe because officers are more likely to stop, search and arrest black people.

Just look at america for example.. A black person is lucky to be involved in a altercation without being shot in the back of the head by a police officer, simply because they're scared.

White people get away with more in a white country. Fact.
My hope is that everyone who saw what happened will come forward and tell the the police. Too many times lately I have read cases where there's been only silence.
Surely the fed who tasered the guy after he shanked his partner will have a pretty good witness report?
Perhaps the police shouldn't have asked on television for all witnesses to come forward then Spath.

/// What evidence do you have, that proves discovering personal details about a assailants character, such as colour or religion, which went a long way to preventing a similar attack from happening again? ///

Well at the moment we are constantly told to be on our alert regarding potential terrorist attacks, and knowing that the attacks are being carried out by mainly male Muslims in the name of Islam, helps enormously, at least we can almost certainly assume that any more attacks will be carried out almost certainly by male Muslims.
OK AOG and how on earth do you determine if someone is a Muslim or not from looks alone?

Of course not all, that would be ridiculous because some whites convert to Islam.

But a very high proportion of Muslims still dress in Middle Eastern dress, go down to your local Mosque on a Friday if you don't believe me.

Does this also help you?

No, because most of the terrorist attacks that have happened recently, did not feature that kind of attire.

/// Then another policeman uses his taser on the offender who is then arrested. Wounded police officer will recover. ///

It was not another officer, it was the wounded officer who managed to use his taser.

/// “He then attacked a uniformed police officer with a machete. The male officer was stabbed a number of times but managed to draw his taser and used it to subdue the suspect and protect himself from further harm. The suspect was then promptly arrested by the other officer in attendance.” ///

I was simply answering your question, nothing in it mentioned terrorists.

/// OK AOG and how on earth do you determine if someone is a Muslim or not from looks alone? ///
AOG, this is atually how the discussion went

"knowing that the attacks are being carried out by mainly male Muslims in the name of Islam, helps enormously, at least we can almost certainly assume that any more attacks will be carried out almost certainly by male Muslims."

To this i said -

"OK AOG and how on earth do you determine if someone is a Muslim or not from looks alone?"

You then gave a link to Islamic attire asking if it helped me to which i responded:

"No, because most of the terrorist attacks that have happened recently, did not feature that kind of attire."

"nothing in it mentioned terrorists. "

I know. But you did.
According to this report the victim himself tasered the assailant and the assailant was then arrested by his colleague. An eye witness stated that paramedics were giving CPR to the stricken officer. That's serious and hopefully an attempted murder charge may be considered instead of GBH!

I dont care who or what the person is.

What I do care about is locking these savages up properly.

Carry a knife 5 years min
Brandish a knife 10yrs min
Actually use the knife 25 years
Kill someone - actual life if they cant be strung up.

And no parole whatsoever.
//Surely the fed who tasered the guy after he shanked his partner will have a pretty good witness report?//

Could you try to translate that to English please. Where does that derive from?
I think he is trying to be clever and cool (but appears anything but).

The fed (Policeman) shanked (Stabbed)
