I don't, Maisie. The "community", as you know" is a male patriarchy. It has clear rules about how "its" women have to act and how to dress. It (the "community") also has fewer confusions that the modern western male rules about gender roles. And has specific religious precedents for the treatment of non-Muslim women.

This sort of argument crops up regularly when a thread loses its way and meanders down the 'all Muslim men are rapists and / or terrorists' route.
I am intrigued to know why you appear to believe that Muslim men must follow their holy writings to the letter, and go around raping white women, when you clearly don;t expect or believe Christian men to do the same thing - plucking out offending eyes and cuttong off offending hands and all that guff.
The simple fact is, the majority of any religion's followers adapt their teachings to suit their lives, and make them happy and secure.
For Muslims, that's keen on the praying and fasting bits, and swerving the child marriage and raping parts.
For Christians, it's trying to lead a good life, hittinc church most Sundays, and looking the other way with the forceful removal of various body parts.
