Many thanks Spare/Ed
I wonder if John McDonnell is disappointed.
I got the impression that he was using this as a big stick to beat Corbyn with, after the reports a while back that he (Corbyn) was losing the plot.
I thought McDonnell saw it as an opportunity to edge himself closer to being party leader.
All the more reason they can't be allowed into government yet.
Luckily there's not likely to be an opportunity to, until the issue of Brexit has passed the crucial "we've left " point.
they can agree what they like among themselves but they are never going to be in a position to implement anything.
It will be interesting to see if this change of stance on Brexit will improve their poor poll ratings. I have my doubts. Labour are divided and badly led. Everyone knows that which is why no one will commit to voting for them.
I think the Lib NonDems have seized a good chunk the remoaner vote gromit. They've been pretty solid in their stance all along. Not to mention the disaffected moderate Labour voters. The way Cob is going, Labour may well have a leadership challenge before the next GE.
Tora,
The only thing Corbyn is good at is winning leadership elections. Set another one up before the General Election, and he would easily win again.
The Telegraph is saying that Boris would win a General Election witha forty seat majority.
That's the sort of prediction that led to Mrs May calling an election in 2017.
danny, I think Bojo would do well to leave that well alone.
Gromit, yes he is but the party craves power and they will start to realise Cob ain't going to deliver. Don't get me wrong I'd love him to stay on ad infinitum he's the best Tory asset since TGL herself.
I think that they based that opinion after the head to head between Boris & Hunt last night.
Forget Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt: the Tories’ Great (possibly only) Hope is the other Jeremy. Johnson boasts that he’s the best man to beat him in an election, when what he really means is best man to see off Farage. That’s the obsession that has allowed Johnson virtually to walk into No 10 unopposed.
As for the news today, I think it hopefully shows that the influence of the hard left anti-EU elements in the party are waiting: Labour plainly has to go one way or the other in the Brexit argument.
