Nice to see something we agree on for a change. A result that cheered me up rather yesterday.
YMB,
One of those rare occasions when we agree on something :-)
Erdogan is a dictator, corrupt and dangerous. Any waning of his influence has to be welcomed and encouraged.
The electorate is in excess of ten million and the turnout is said to have been around 84%. Last night it was said that the official outcome was known/certain 15 minutes after polls closed and the underdog conceded defeat - in The UK it's more likely to be 15 hours before results are known. It's impossible for foreigners to be more efficient than the UK. Ergo: The election must have been rigged, or what ?
It seems that voters are quite capable of sticking to their position, strengthening it even, when politicians ask them to check that what they voted for was actually what they wanted.

Why be scared of a confirmatory vote?

"Why be scared of a confirmatory vote?"

Eh, they have had two. Erdogan has been well and truly shown his people are not all behind him - by a long chalk.

Lets hope it's the start of his downfall.

We voted, you lost, get over it.
No Turkish Election would not be complete without Erdogan and his party trying to cheat.
Public transport by Istanbul’s Maritime Travel Company announced May 20 it would cancel water taxis into the city, citing a lack of interest in the route.
The high turnout (84.4%) was despite a Government supporting travel company offering highly discounted flights out of the country for Istanbul residents on election day,
So Turkey makes you vote again and again till you produce the required result. Sounds like a prime candidate for EU membership.
No wonder they can't get into the EUSSR can't even rig an election! Clearly he needs EUSSR expertise. Give Junkett a bell, he'll sort it!
Erdogan would wipe the floor with Junkett (sic Juncker) because he is a real dictator, not a fantasy AB posters bogey man. Erdogan will have you killed, imprisoned indefinitely or exiled just for not agreeing with him. Juncker is a sozzled pussycat by comparison.
didn't know you were his PR man gromit!
// Surprised it wasnt rigged, //
whatever makes you think they didnt try ?

after ataturk the turks have had a run of no-hopers
I remember in the seventies there was a choice of two
