it might mean less old git comedy and more funny stuff.
Can't see anything wrong with that.
More acid wit perhaps?
yes I think it will, with a few exceptions women are not good comedy writers.
No, females can be quite funny.
Judging by the output on ITV lately neither are the men.
"yes I think it will, with a few exceptions women are not good comedy writers."

Woahh woahh :D I disagree strongly. Ruth Jones is a hilarious writer.
TBF though ITV hasn't had much in the way of decent comedy anyway. I make a point of watching at least one episdode of all new sitcoms, just to give it a chance, the BBC wins hands down. ITV's last proper sitcom was Rising Damp.
Load of rubbish. If they had any sense they'd opt for the best writers regardless of gender.
It died with Benny Hill. This is the last nail in the coffin.

Would that be funny, ha, ha or funny in their ways?

I'll get my coat.
Logically it won't be the end but will only be half as good. Seriously, what Naomi said.

Women are not very good at comedy, I don't get a laugh out of most women comedians, the only one that I found funny was the late Victoria Wood.

Just look at some male comedy double acts. Laurel and Hardy, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, Little and Large, Dellboy and Rodney, The Two Ronnies, Cannon and Ball. Morecambe and Wise.
Jheeee wait till calico gets a whiff of this thread.
Being female I should disagree with women not being very good at comedy but I can't. I can't remember one comedian that I found amusing.

I actually find most comedians unamusing. Father Ted is, for me, the best. Only fools and horses come in second place.

Fawlty Towers was dire.
I think ur all being very naive to female writers.
Emma chambers, dawn french and Liz smith, all writers of the Vicar of Dibley.

"i'm going in"

Hang on a minute, are you saying there is/has been Comedy on ITV?
If this had been in place years ago there would have been no Galton and Simpson, no Muir and Nordon, four of the best ever comedy writers.
To encourage more women comedy writers is a step to be applauded, however vetoing perfectly good all male writing teams is a retrograde step.
