Instead of hand wringing and allowing the EUSSR to shaft us, should we just accept no deal and prepare for it as best we can in the remaining time?

You don't need to be a politician, just have a grasp of common sense, to know that the EU were always going to play hard ball from Day One of the negotiators, how could they do any other? To roll over and accept Britain's exit is to start a domino effect which would see the EU collapsing within five years, they were always going to make it as hard as they could to set an...

Would that be the same Sir Mark Sedwell who as Cabinet Secretary rubber-stamped £100M for Consultants because “government departments lack the staff and skills needed” ?

He is hardly going to say we are in bad shape and admit he has wasted £millions.
It sends out a good message to Brussels and gives them food for thought.
Equally he is hardly lining himself up to look the fool when we exit no deal and his words are tested.
If most/all of whatever deal the gov wanted, was sorted out before the referendum, every one would have known what they were voting for and this mess we seem to be in probably would not be happening
steg - // … every one would have known what they were voting for … //

Everyone did know what they were voting for!

The nonsense that Remainers peddle that voters 'didn't know what they were voting for' is just that - would they have said the same if the result had gone their way?
We should have done it from the outset.

Putting all your cards face up on the table before a game is noncence. I hope all these remainers that like doing so dont play poker or they will be destitute very quickly!
//Everyone did know what they were voting for! //

Yes, many Remainers deny this because the result was not of their liking.
I'm sure they would have said exactly the same, Andy (snort!).
And if Remain had won by a short margin, then naturally they would be fighting to remove as many ties as possible as a compromise. Lol.
//… every one would have known what they were voting for …//

Yes, they gave it much consideration.
I read recently that some voted leave so they would be able to use non-energy saving light bulbs.
And a presenter on LBC said someone had phoned in to say he voted leave so 'he wouldn't have to see black faces at the checkout in Tesco.'
Lol... of course.

It's the easiest thing in the world to zero in on some extremist numpty who gave a soundbite to back up the 'Remain' point of view - but that does not invalidate the vote, or the result.

And there were plenty of Remainer clots who voted remain because they thought they wouldnt be able to travel.

Numpties exist everywhere, to pretend they all voted one way is just another desperate attempt.
The argument that voters were ignorant of any 'deal' when the voted is entirely spurious, and the sort of nonsense the Remainers love to spout.

History will show that the electorate voted on a straightforward question - Do you wish to leave the EU - yes or no?

It really couldn't be much simpler than that - so where they get the 'people didn't understand … ' garbage from is anyone's guess.

The simple fact is, no 'deals' were available at the time, because negotiating a deal could only ever begin if there was a vote to leave, otherwise what would anyone be 'dealing' about?

To say that the electorate did not understand the 'deal' is simply not true - there was no 'deal' - the vote was to leave or not, the rest is about the terms of departure, not whether we leave or not, that has been decided - remember? There was a vote???
The solution to this problem (of idiots voting) is clearly to insist that all voters must justify their answer, using not fewer than 5000 words and not more than 10000. Essays to be marked based on quality of argument and spelling, grammar etc.

jim - That's Peter Pedant's vote removed from the system right away!!!
Whoops, you missed a capital letter on "jim"! You can keep your vote but it's going to be worth a fraction less now :P
Playbill, // I read recently that some voted leave so they would be able to use non-energy saving light bulbs./

I’m guessing you read that here and if you did it’s not true. It was something said by a Leaver and latched on to and taken out of context by a Remainer.

Aye better to go “all in” before the cards are dealt lol
Although it was a joke, it actually does seem as though the opinions of Remainers are thought of as more correct than those of Leavers. By remainers, anyway...
^ who left the joker on the pack?!
