Really didn't know where to post this (News/Law/Chatterbank or the joke section)?
But this is a story from my local rag.

https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/police-hunting-wanted-who-man-2947714

The police are after a man who escaped from them and is wanted in connection for a number of offences. The police are asking for anyone with any information to contact them. And yet they have not revealed his name, the nature of the offences or even a description.
Who the hell do they think is going to contact them, Mystic Meg?
I just don't get it?

Hope so Chris ;-)
here's a preview of the poster the police are planning on circulating

They want anyone with information to contact them but information about what? I can't imagine they'll get much response.
Police have revealed that the fugitive has 'a very dodgy Cockney accent and calls 'cherroo'' at regular intervals.
Helicopter cameras were unable to get photographs due to an accomplice shielding them with an umbrella.
All the public could do is report a description of anyone lurking about or acting suspiciously.

Agree though, virtually nothing to go on!
I wonder if he was wearing a blue and red costume at the time?
I wonder why they haven't released a description of the wanted man or details of the crimes allegedly committed? Very odd.
Yes,maybe retrocop can come up with a reason!

Me neither naomi.
The area mentioned in the article is a predominatly Asian area, don't know if that has any bearing tho??

The police don't seem to be asking for help. I imagine the reporter asked a few questions, including what people can do to help. The police are hardly going to say "No, please don't help" but they are not expecting a big public response.

This is more about the newspaper filling space than anything to do with the police. They have been told there was a search and eantbtonrort as much as they can, however flimsy.

I saw a report of a police search in a house a couple of years ago. It said the police searched window frames and the front garden. This did not mean the police were only looking in those two places, simply that these were the only bits the reporter could see.
My local paper once published a video still of a robbery in a shop and asked the public 'Do you recognise this person?' The picture quality was such that the person's head was just a complete white blob!

//The police don't seem to be asking for help//

//Despite assistance from the National Police Air Service helicopter and efforts to contain him, he is believed to have escaped over the rooftops. Attempts to locate him continue."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 337 of June 5//

I imagine they want information about a man escaping over roofs or otherwise looking suspicious yesterday in Stoke on Trent. People may well have seen him, even if they don't know who he is or what he's done.

//or otherwise looking suspicious yesterday in Stoke on Trent//

Well that's most of Stoke on the most wanted list then ;-)
they can all turn one another in, then
As I said, the newspaper print whatever they can. The police will provide an incident number because to refuse would be pointless, but they are not making a public appeal for information.
Douglas 19.02 " The Fugitive has a " Very Dodgy Cockney Accent ".
Now who could that be on the news section of Answer Bank ??
I imagine they want someone who actually knows him to dob him in
