Qt: Second Scottish Referendum.

This seems to be an excellent idea.
Firstly Scotland decides to leave the Union (that's us - England/Scotland).
Then the rest of the UK has a "people's vote" without the five million Remain Ians.
We minus the Scots leave the EU without paying the Danegeld. Scotland has left the Union, foregone its Barnier formula crumbs, but invited new dues to its new EU liege lords and embracing its new future as an independent and self-governing country and various other intellectual confusions.
The popular phrase is "What's not to like", isn't it?
To be honest, I like the Union to which Scotland has played such a big part. But if I can chuck the Scots under a bus to get Brexit then - and witjh regret - so be it.

Extremely irritated and frustrated.
NTake the nght of the Scottish Referendum. I began the night watching Salmond etc. Out and good riddance, thought I, but ended it with pleasure: the Scots said "stay". Which kind of said that I had a deeper principle than the superficial irritation.
Since the Jacobite rebellions Scotland has been one of England's and the world's greatest contributors to the world of thought and science. I like Hume and Smith.
There's Jim's mate James Clerk Maxwell, to name one of the other the obvious ones. Isn't there there the engineer who got the idea of the geolical column by tunneling through rock when he was constructing the railways? Long before Darwin innit? Etc etc.
Why would people with such a shared culture want to dispute territory apart from political ambition?

aargh - first sentence doesnt have a main verb
second sentence makes it up with three ( main verbs)
third sentence begins with 'which'. No one speaks like that (Some like it hot)
are we meant to take this seriously ?

Except that if you believe opinion polls about 20% of Scots would vote for independence were it offered now.
Haven’t you forgotten Wales and N Ireland in your “union”
I think what comments like the above show is just how much an English (and to extent Welsh) project Brexit is. It certainly isn’t the UK clamouring for Independence as a certain party’s name implies.
Then again maybe this is a wind-up and I’ve fallen for it :-)

Funny that. Neither are thousands of Scotsmen and women who live in England not allowed to vote.
My late Father in Law Dr HA Jones was born in Edinburgh,educated at a prominent School in Edinburgh and studied medecine at Edinburgh University.He was a Gp most of his working life in the West Midlands.
He couldn't vote either but at least appreciated the English and would have voted remain in the union if he were allowed.
