From the photo, it looks as if the moped rider had an opportunity to stop. It's not like the police man rammed him off the moped, he simply obstructed the pavement causing the moped to crash.

It's quite simple in my mind.. don't rob handbags, don't ride a moped on the pavement, don't try to out run the police and you may find the police letting you just get on with yer life.
Good. It should never have come to that.
At least someone has used some common sense at last
Thankfully common sense has prevailed.
I too am very pleased at the outcome for the officer. I am at a loss to understand why the identity of the alleged offender (the injured moped rider) has been kept from the press. Concerned also that the low-life ambulance chasing gutter feeding lawyers will be pursuing a claim against the Met that will be concealed from the public.

All worthy of best answer. Morale in the police force needs to be supported.
Well said Sparklykid.
Yes, good news.

I did comment on the original thread on this topic yesterday.
Good news, the correct outcome. All such incidents *should* be vetted, but I'm of the opinion the procedure could be speeded-up. It really shouldn't have taken 2 years.
Excellent News.

Now we need to seek out the person who thought it correct to persue this action in the first place. And remove their liberal ass from their job.
Common sense rules (for once) !
