I Googled "Is Sri Lanka safe for tourists"?

And came up with this:

/// The good news is that Sri Lanka is a remarkably safe place to travel in, and violent crime against foreigners is virtually unheard of – this is still a place where, despite 25 years of brutal civil war, in parts of the country the theft of two bicycles is considered a crime wave. ///

How times have changed.

Sri Lanka isn't an Islamic country; neither is New Zealand.

My last three holidays have all been to Islamic countries. Loved them all.
Think Sri Lanka is mostly Buddhist
The British government is now advising against all but essential travel to Sri Lanka which is sad because it’s a beautiful country inhabited in the main by Buddhists. Since many of the atrocities committed by Islamists are committed in countries that are not Islamic safety can’t be guaranteed anywhere.
The point is that he THINKS it's an Islamic country or it APPEARS to be an Islamic country and it's his perceptions that are important, not the facts.
Tourists seem to be amazingly resilient so it's more about what's safe right now. Tourists have now returned to lots of previous sites of attacks - Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia, Bali etc etc
Give it a rest, Corby. You're like a broken record.
plenty of "broken records" on this site spicerack
Naomi, perhaps you should simply have said safety can't be guaranteed anywhere, it never has been. Spicerack and bednobs, yes indeed, the same fierce (sometimes quite acrimonious) discussions between the same people of opposite views. If/when one side stops, will the other ? I somehow doubt it (regardless of which were to or one might think might stop first).

Islam is the second largest religion in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with results from the United Kingdom 2011 Census giving the UK Muslim population in 2011 as 2,516,000, 4.4% of the total population.[1] The vast majority of Muslims in the United Kingdom live in England: 2,660,116 (5.02% of the population). 76,737 Muslims live in Scotland (1.45%), 45,950 in Wales (1.50%). London has the greatest population of Muslims in the country.[2][3][4] The majority of Muslims in United Kingdom adhere to Sunni Islam,[5] while smaller numbers are associated with Shia Islam.
God knows what happened there .
Sorry folks techie hitch. You'll have to scroll right down to the bottom.
It's often easier to link to the Wiki page rather than try to copy swathes.

AOG, your link gives
Sorry – the page you have requested does not exist

Thank you Mamya, that's better, shame the OPer couldn't be bothered to check.
Sri Lanka bans all facial covering as from tomorrow.

I think it's the full-stop at the end of the link that caused the problem.
I rarely visit AB anymore because the community that was once gentle has become horrible and the agenda dominated by fake far right sites.
But I had to laugh at AOGs question and its total ignorance of religion in Sri Lanka.

The truth is that people are safe in any country. There have been attacks in Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Bhuddist countries, but they are not common or the norm.
Terrorists attacking any country, their main objective is to damage the rulers of that country, not the victims.
You're in no position to laugh at anyone, gromit, after posting that brainless garbage.
More than 400,000 Muslim soldiers of the British Indian Army fought for Britain during World War I, where 62,060 were killed in action, and half a million Muslim soldiers of the British Indian Army fought for Britain against the Nazis in World War II.
But he's right, Spicerack.
