/// The day to commemorate the aspiring architect’s life was announced by Prime Minister Theresa May last year. ///

Let us hope that this will help to remove the high number of other murders that are now taking place on our streets.

'Since Lawrence’s stabbing, many hundreds of other teenagers of all races — but especially black teenagers, sadly — have been murdered in the streets. But none of them is going to get a day named after them. Hardly: not least because if you added up all the victims there wouldn’t be days enough in the year to commemorate them. Why, then, is Lawrence different?

Lawrence has been singled out because the circumstances of his death were so very unusual: the perpetrators were white. This provided Britain’s left-liberal Establishment with an extremely rare opportunity to promulgate its breast-beating fantasy narrative that Britain is a fundamentally racist country which must do more to expunge its white guilt'. White on black, gets a day name, black on black, or black on white ? - forget it.
I would not have remembered but for seeing his father and family on TV this morning. Apparently Mr Lawrence is thinking about going into the prison to talk to Stephen's killers.
Khandro. Spot on.
Any day, any action, any person who can make an inroad into possibly stemming the alarming loss of young lives is good by me - as a parent I doubt I would have had the strength to do anythig but to curl into a ball and wish to die myself.

So to all campaigners, family or otherwise - Thank you.
That is it precisely, Khandro.
It was more the fact that it wasn’t investigated properly due to the police and their racist way of thinking
A load of BS.
Why single out one black victim?
Should all parents of victims be ennobled?
Disgusting circus.
Here's the premise Theland...

//Stephen Lawrence Day is about the part we all play in creating a society in which everyone can flourish. It is an opportunity for children and young people to have their voices heard, make the changes they’d like to see and create a society that treats everyone with fairness and respect.

Through Stephen Lawrence Day we want young people to be inspired about what they can achieve in their own lives. We want them to get involved in creating the kind of community they want to live in and we want them to have a strong voice in building a fairer and more inclusive society.

We want you to join us in creating a society in which everyone can flourish. The objectives of the day are to:

Inspire and support children and young people to make choices and actions that enable them and others to live their best lives
Encourage and enable children and young people to play an active role in building stronger communities in which everyone can flourish
Give children and young people a strong voice in driving social change and creating a society that treats everyone with fairness and respect//

Only minutes ago you were bemoaning the loss of community, now you call positive action a circus.

See the problem?
No problem to me.
A sad and terrible case, just like all the other murder victims. This is so wrong and P C
Which part of encouraging, nurturing and inspiring young people is wrong?

There are many hundreds of people doing that day in and out, yes some achieve wider publicity however the end goal has to be worth a try.
Murder victim - Stephen Lawrence Day.
Administration Victims - Windrush Day.
Do we English hate ourselves so much we ignore injustice to our own ethnicity?
I'll leave you to it, I have children coming round for bright conversation.

Nip back to the American Easter pics, you seemed to like those.

Mamyalynne, your cut-and-paste at 1629 was verbosely flowery, full of altruism, humanitarianism and magnanimity. However, to those members of society who have absolutely no compunction whatsoever in whacking other members of society it is totally meaningless.
//Do we English hate ourselves so much we ignore injustice to our own ethnicity? //

No, we don't.
Our English sense of 'fair play' means that we extend our sense of injustice to anyone on these shores (hopefully) who has suffered harm or injury through violence.

You constant racial 'agitation' belies the image you like to portray as a caring Christian who fears for the condition of our souls, Theland.
Jack - ŷou are so wrong
Nothing that you write leads me to that conclusion.
We consistently invest our emotions, and resources in placating and sucking up to ethnic and religious minorities, whilst the majority indigenous people are forever pushed further back. Check it out. It has nothing to do with my beliefs.
More flag waving for one of very many victims of evil.
St George’s day tomorrow. Rule Britannia anyone?
