Booked a caravan for myself OH and grandchildren for 4 days next week months ago going by the schools web site dates 13th Apr-28th Apr. That they are still have another week off next week. Schools own Web site still showing dates unchanged.
Children’s mother informs me, a friend told her that she the friend who signed up to email alerts from the school says the new term starts next Tues 23rd. Not the 28th. Having only had 1 week off. This week
Gutted. Was looking forward to time away with children. I live in S Wales. Don’t get to see them only on school holidays.
The plan was to drive up Easter Monday then go from their home to caravan.
As a after thought as I have a yearly travel insurance would I be able to claim. Or would the insurance say Well there’s nothing stopping you and your OH still going. Would I have a case seeing as the schools web site is still showing them still having a week off next week.
Going up tomorrow so we can spend at least some time seeing them.

If the website says 28th, Malag then I would take my grandchildren away for the holiday. You booked the holiday after checking the dates on the website so the school won't have a leg to stand on if they try to fine the parents. Make sure you've made a copy of those dates on the website.
Four days off school won't harm them a bit and time with grandparents will be good for them....good luck..x
23rd for our council schools, the 28th is a Sunday.
One week off doesnt sound right. I suggest some double checking. The holiday should run to the Sunday as published returning on Monday 29th.

Is there any possibility the childrens mother is either mistaken or dare I say, not wanting them to go to the caravan?
Here's another list to check against.

23rd return here in the Lothians too.... which part of Scotland ?
been off a week already here !
Maybe the mother should contact the school rather than listen to the grapevine. Point out the website says the 28th and the holiday is booked, so if they're changing their mind on the starting date then it's too late; they're all already committed to be away.
I'm almost sure that parents aren't fined in Scotland for non-attendance of children and certainly not in the first instance.

It's a rare event but, I agree with Gness. :-)
I live in Dundee and our schools went back after a fortnight's holiday on Monday (15th April) but will be off on Friday for Good Friday. Meantime 10 miles away in Angus the schools are still off and don't start back until Monday 23rd April. Not good for parents who live in Angus but work in Dundee.
