I suppose as long as she is appealing against her passport removal she remains a British citizen until the appeal is decided.
because it's the removal that she's contesting.
Do you think you need to be British to get legal aid?

/// because it's the removal that she's contesting. ///

Then as a none British subject, she should provide her own legal aid.
//Jeremy Corbyn Supports Shamima Begum//

No surprise there.
AOG, she is a British subject until her appeal is decided.
We offer aid for many people who are not British citizens.

/// Do you think you need to be British to get legal aid? ///

Yes, because why should the British taxpayer pay for foreigner's legal aid?
If you have a court case in Britain, you are entitled to apply for legal aid whatever your nationality.....Radio 4 referred to this yesterday. As to JC nailing his colours to the cross, are we surprised? I'm surprised that he isn't putting her forward for a Czech or Palestinian passport - and giving her a freedom medal at the same time.
If a British citizen had gone abroad to marry a far-right extremist who was chopping heads off people etc....

... then would Jezza be arguing due process and human rights?

Then the question that must be asked is, why is the court case being carried out in Britain? She is not British and she doesn't even live in Britain.
well Jezza is a popular supporter of all middle east terrorist outfits so no surprise he's supporting ISIS.
Anyone surprised at COB's actions?

Soon to be your PM thanks to the arrogant Treason so better get used to much more of this.
AOG, How many times do you have to be told that until the appeal is decided she is a British citizen.
Surely it is stripped and she is appealing to get it back?
Whilst I sincerely hope that her appeal fails, I actually have no issues with her receiving legal aid to contest it. It's a vital part of our legal infrastructure that people have recourse to free legal advice, we can't just take it away from random individuals because we don't like what they've done, because that in time will become more and more common until everyone is affected.
Let her have her appeal heard and the law take it's full course.
The way i viewed Corbyn's words was that he was defending the British Justice system, not Begum. Still, i have no political axe to grind which is maybe why i see through the guff.
"well Jezza is a popular supporter of all middle east terrorist outfits so no surprise he's supporting ISIS."

I don't recall him praising Irgun or the Stern Gang for their attacks on British citizens, and haven't noticed a rush to congratulate Netanyahu on his drive towards religious fundamentalism.

Perhaps you know better?

No she isn't, at the moment she is non British.

For example, if a person has been convicted of being a murderer, they are still a murderer until after their appeal has been heard and they have won their case, then and only then can it be said, that they are indeed not a murderer.
