Hi Chilli.....c'est la vie.....

Seriously, hope that they can dowse this quickly and minimise damage as much as possible. As to the nuances of the language, yes the church is feminine in french and it would be brulée - in terms of the national motto, then it's a single é.... I'm taking the p out of the French government.....

How much wood do they have there up in the roof? But then look at the way Windsor went up....
Merde. Tres Triste. :-(

oh come on Sunny ! none of us can do anything- my garden hose aint long enough. It looks as tho the whole nave roof has gone - 25 mins. And repair work WAS being done .... when Richard Brinsley Sheridan's theatre ( Theatre Royal I Think) was burning - the author got a chair and started reading a newspaper. A passerby wondered why he wasnt more proactive and he replied - a man can sit beside his own fire can;t he?
( recognised that the whole thing was not salvageable apparently)
This is awful... my daughter showed me a picture as I came in from work just now, as she was there last year. I thought she was winding me up at first, but sadly not.
Rose window melted
( as it did in York)

there is alot of scaffolding around - I wonder if it was repair-related.
What a shame. Reminds me of when Windsor Castle and Hampton Court went up in flames.
the pompiers ( french for firemen - just to vex the mono-glots) cant get the water up to the cathedral. that is why you can see fire but no firemen apparently. God it cd be London - one side borders the Seine by the way

where is 3T and his elf n safety one liners when you need him?

PP, this is serious, just go away will you.
Shades of Windsor Castle - let's hope the Queen sends her condolences to M. Macron. What a tragedy for Paris and France.
why aren't they using choppers to lift water from the Seine and dropping it on the cathedral.....and, jeez, this is 'no worse' than Montparnasse or La Defense high-rises going up - or where I worked, near the Gare de Lyon.
I agree with chilldoubt. There’s no humour in this.
Horrific. Hope it can be brought under control fast, but I fear it's already too late.
I dont agree with Nigh or Chilldo - [shock]

let us face it: there is nothing any of us can do but gawk and make 1) po-faced one liners or 2) less po faced one liners.
This is just awful. It looks like it will simply burn itself out... :-(
19 23 - firemen according to the Beeb still not able to get their hoses to the fire
more you tube
en francais je regrette.
