Then why pick on UK, the country that contributes 0.16% (4% of Mankind's 4%) of carbon emissions to the planet? Go to India, China or the US! Why are these idiots so un aware of the issue they claim to care so passionately about?

too true TTT. Sort china out, then the rest of us can have some air to think.
Pretty sure "Mankind's 4%" is either made-up or certainly a highly misleading statistic. In any case, it stands to reason that the only way the UK can personally deal with CO2 emissions is to reduce its own contributions, and in so doing hopefully put pressure on other nations to follow suit.

yeah so go to the biggest emmitters bot the barely noticeable ones. It's like going to Holland and claiming more cycyling would be good! If I wanted to protest about National Hunt racing, I'd go to the Grand National not the Badbury Rings point to point!
According to your link, TTT, protests are expected to be held in over 80 cities across 33 countries. Hardly picking on the UK, is it?
I think the message of climate change is getting across to most, albeit very slowly, hopefully we will close the stable door before the horse as bolted, everyone can help close that door.

I don't think anyone doubts the climate changes, I learned about it in 1973 in geography.
but have you learned, or assessed, the rapid increase of temperatures and how it correlates with mankinds progression around the industrial revolution? Now it's escalating in ways we could never imagine.
Here I was, happily cogitating about Brexit for the last three years, leaving "Climate Change" (or whatever it's now called) on the back burner (pun intended) when this lot kick off. How am I supposed to deal with two lots of "the greatest issue of our time"? One I can just about manage, but two? I can't cope with it!!! :-) :-)

Please c&p the rest of that frenetic tirade.
//Protester Yen Chit Chong said: "This is our last best shot at survival."//

Yen Chit Chong? I thought it was a brand of Chinese laxative chewing gum.
The changes required to prevent\reverse climate change will simply not happen.

We should be thinking more about how we survive it, rather than how we stop.

The answer by intelligent people like Jim (he's a physicist you know, high energy stuff the speciality and cross-dressing as a hobby, so guaranteed expertise on climatology) is "turn off the lights" and revert to subsistence farming.

Well, if the choice is back to the caves, or cuff the planet, then cuff the planet, and I'll go out driving my 4x4 rather than poking a stick in the ground for food.
I don't see the need for the cross-dressing dig here

Pretty much how 95% of the world's population feels, myself included, which is why I say the changes required will simply not happen.

Even if we were all happy to go back to some sort of pre-industrial revolution lifestyle, I doubt it's even possible. There are simply too many of us now.
^As I've said umpteen times. Quite right.
//I don't see the need for the cross-dressing dig here//

Neither do I, actually, FF. Jim, for whom I've got a lot of time, chose to out himself. And I wish I hadn't mentioned it to be honest.
If we went back to pre industrial lifestyle then this lot protesting probably wouldn't see the year out. They'd have a heart attack with all the work involved or sit staring in wonderment at no handouts so they could protest about something else.
Noted, VE. We've probably all posted something intended as a funny/flippant comment and then regretted it. Thanks
It's my irritation with the stupidity of it all.

Brexit "no de" is going to wreck the economy - do anything we can to stop that- but replacing efficient sources of energy with twirling sticks and a bit of moss is going to make us all better off.

It takes a lot of intelligence and university education to seee the sense in that, doesn't it?
