People travelling back from Greece are advised to get to the airport early due to increased police checks.

"Summary - As of 7 April 2019, the Hellenic Police will begin implementing systematic passport control checks for all European citizens travelling to/from destinations outside the Schengen area (including the UK). This is in line with the 2017 Schengen Borders Code regulation EU 2017/458, which will eventually be applied by all Schengen member states according to the individual timescales. Waiting times at passport control may be affected on departure from and arrival into Greece. You should ensure you arrive at the airport in good time."

Wouldn't have thought they were that fussed about those leaving. Maybe they're going to take responsibility for illegal immigrants trying to move on.

I know a lot round ere go greece so just something to be aware of.
Good for them. If they wish to control their borders and check the comings and goings of travellers then, in this day and age, they can be hardly criticised. After all the beautiful Island of Lesbos has been turned into a huge camp and illegal immigrants are causing civil disorder in mainland Greece at the moment.
I often spend a long time queueing to get in out of my own country at Gatwick. No worries. They ,at Immigration Border Control, are hopefully trying to protect us.
Thank you for the heads up. I will bear your information in mind for future visits to EU countries and leave a little earlier. :-)
