Isn't it ironic that a JD voucher is the voucher of choice? Not a Argos voucher or an iTunes voucher.. But a JD voucher. The one high street shop, i personally regard as being rather "chavie"

So, if this man (who is part of a informal knife amnesty) knows that JD is the preferred shop of choice for knife wielders, then why not allow the police to stop and search people who predominantly wear / buy clothes that appear to be from JD? Or is that stupid?

That is stupid. The police would then be accused of targeting and stereotyping would’nt they?
Question Author
But if the stereotype is proven to be accurate, what's more important? Proventing innocent people getting stabbed or someone potentially getting offended? It's targeting people by a known knife factors, not by race or anything people can choose to prevent.
I'm completely unperturbed that you regard me as chav.
Where's the irony?

If Argos vouchers had been issued and they were then used to purchase a lot more knives would that not be ironic?
Question Author
It would be Ironic. Is it not Ironic that they support the image of these knife wielding people thought?
If it takes more knives off the streets, what difference does it make?
Question Author
Exactly and only people who shop at JD and carry knifes will be against this.
A lot of knife carriers shop at JD does not mean a lot of JD shoppers carry knives. It may mean 1% of JD shoppers are knife wielders compared to say 0.7% at McDonalds and 0.6% at Asda, but it's hardly a good use of police time
Question Author
If it's a waste of police time then is there really a knife epidemic?
its probabaly the best bulk deal they can get on vouchers.
How do you know those carrying knives tend to use JD rather than any other sports outlets?
Surely it would be more ironic to use the Argos voucher to buy an iron.
Question Author
"How do you know those carrying knives tend to use JD rather than any other sports outlets?"

Simply because of the man in the article
I shop at JD, guess that makes me a pretty well off chav then.
Question Author
do you take offence, YMB?
Not at all, been called far worse :-)
Question Author
Well good because I didn't actually call you a chav. I said that I regard the shop as being rather chavy. Not in association to the status of people who go into the shop, but more the behaviour of those who enter and purchase that are of a certain age that would choose to shop there rather than say, primark or a shop that's associated with other social groups such as skaters, goths or punks.
//why not allow the police to stop and search people who predominantly wear / buy clothes that appear to be from JD? Or is that stupid? //

Yes.

Have you investigated how this gentleman funds his largesse. Does JD support his cause ?
I suppose knife crime will now rocket for a different reason. Theft !
Spath, not sure you have thought this out.

Have you had a bottle of JD? ;-)
