There is no reason given for this lady resigning her position - it may be coincidence that this incident happened at the same time. Surely they mean that 53% of the people who bothered to vote in the YouGov poll, thought so?
Yes, that's what 'respondents' means

Where have I doubted them? Unlike the EU Remainers I accept poll results.

If people can't be bothered to vote in polls, then they should accept the results of those who do.
I wares referring to opinion polls not elections or referenda.

"This 'exclusive' study shows half of Britons believe fascist views are on the rise in the US, UK and Europe.

How can they possibly claim that?

Surely they mean that 50% of the people who bothered to vote in the BMG poll, thought so?"
Were they all mail readers? Perhaps just those who think that gollies are ok..... The mail......got to laugh at it.
Surely only a 3% majority is hardly a convincing number.

It means that anout 20 million people do not think it is acceptable. Too big a number to ignore.
you can buy gollwogs ive seen them in gift shops recently
oops! missed the "i" out
Interestingly that study compared Leavers to Remainers attitudes towards the acceptability of Golliwogs:

"Displaying or selling a golliwog is seen as acceptable by almost twice as many leavers (72%) as remainers (37%)."

Other analysis on the results for race, education and political allegiance were also done, a good link is below.

Another post illustrating how AOG doesn’t understand what racism is.
Were white Cabbage Patch dolls also seen as racist?
No, just the stuff of nightmares.

If MWG believes the cabbage patch doll is an accurate representation of himself I hope he has no mirrors in the house.

There's nothing wrong with golliwogs except it gives some an excuse to have a go at those refusing to take offence at the inoffensive.

This is less about racism than a salutary lesson about modern society - if you hold controversial views, don't commit them to print on social media, where a world of individuals is just waiting to be offended - and act on that reaction.

From Link in OP.
Elaine Clark, 64, who was the head of Chelsea's IT department for 20 years, was accused of writing on Facebook: 'Bring Back The Golliwogs/Like & Share if you want the Golliwogs back.'
The mother of two from Purley, south London, was rumbled by a whistleblower who sent screenshots of the post to Chelsea and the FA's Kick It Out campaign.
The anonymous informant's email was titled: 'Elaine Clark — Racist'.
What is your point?
The dark darlings offended again!
What next?
