Why are people on decent money considered to be greedy.
I just don't get that point of view.
A person earning, say, £250k will have in the vast vast majority of cases have got to that position in life through bloody hard work, nous, and business acumen. The bog cleaner on minimum wage will be where they are because they don't have those qualities.
It doesn't make the person on £250k "greedy". It makes them successful in life.

OG doesn’t seem to understand that most high earners well and truly earn their high salaries. I really don’t know why he thinks they should work long hours in stressful, demanding, jobs, for the same wage as someone working in McDonalds. If that’s the plan they may as well push trolleys at Tescos and enjoy the easy life.

No mystery. Deskdiary's bog cleaner is easy to replace. At a push the high earner could do that until the bog cleaner recovered. The same can't be said the other way around.

Somebody earning £80k will pay 8 times more tax than somebody earning £20k. So they earn 4 times more but pay 8 times more in tax.
By any objective measure that is simply unfair, and yet some people think that doesn't go far enough. £80k is a healthy income but they are certainly not rich. As Ludwig said some time ago, it's only ever other people who don't pay enough tax. Never a truer word was said.

The problem isn’t the pay of MPs or their number.
The problem is they are ineffectual and unrepresentative. If they actually were accountable to their electorate, they would not be loyal to their party over the interests of their constituents.
First Past the Post us a terrible way to appoint local representatives, but a great way for Labour and the Conservatives to subvert the democratic process.
Most constituencies have been gerrymandered over many decades to return a Labour or Conservative candidate, when most people are disatified with either party.
Any view that is not mainstream is ignored by FPTP, which resulted in more than 4 million UKIP votes in 2010 resulting in not one representative in Parliament.
The system is broken, not the pay scale.

No, OG, you do not understand. You don’t understand what it means never to be on holiday even when you are on holiday, never to take a day off sick even when you are sick, to be on call 24 hours a day every day of the year and to be ever ready to put your personal life on hold at a moment's notice, to live in your office for days on end because difficult decisions need to be made and other areas of the world work in different time zones – and all of that regardless of what should be family commitments – and overtime pay not featuring in the equation at all - and so it goes on. No, you really don’t understand that most high earners well and truly earn their money. Like so many who complain as you do, all you see is pound signs.
Nurses earn between £23k and £35k. Firefighters earn between £22k and £34k. Paramedics earn between £23k and £36k. The work of these people involves life or death, and considerably more stress, trauma and responsibility than any of us ever need to face. I'm not sure anyone in our economy can reasonably claim to 'work harder' than these people.
High earners typically earn a lot because they work hard, sure, but also because they have the opportunity and choice to work hard in high-paying, highly specialised professions where demand for their skills significantly outstrips supply. Having the opportunity to do that is very, very heavily connected to education and social capital. This does not mean that high earners 'don't work hard.' They do. But the idea that the wealthiest section of society is all self-made is a fantasy.

Krom, their jobs may be stressful but it doesn’t follow that people who work in the professions you mention work harder than others. That’s nonsense.
Regardless of background, the majority of those in highly paid jobs have achieved through nothing more than damned hard work. High salaries aren’t given on a plate – and if performance fails they are swiftly removed.
