They mean dependent on someone else, anyone else, probably the EUSSR if they'll let them join, that's not independence.
I'm not Scottish but it does seem rather a pipe dream.
I don’t agree with you
I’d say, sit back and see ,

(Strangely I can't find an actual video of this interview even though it allegedly went out on CNN. Could be fake news).

If she did say it though, it really does depend on how Brexit turns out. If there's a no-deal scenario (which at this point looks quite likely to me), the chances of another independence vote would go up significantly in my opinion.

5 years does seem optimistic even so. But not impossible.
/// Asked if she believed that Scotland would be applying to the EU as an independent nation in the next three to five years, she replied: “I would love to think so and I think it will.///

///“I’m not going to put a particular timescale on it right now but in the not too distant future, I think Scotland will be an independent country looking to join the EU and looking to take a seat the United Nations.”///

She didn’t really “state Scotland will be independent within 5 years” just that she hopes and thinks it will

Semantics.
Quite a big difference
She seems pretty damn cocksure that the EU will welcome Scotland if they become Independent of the UK. Will she pay for 'the wall?'
Naw she’s got it on dvd already
not a chance..she is fast losing her grip up here and seriously doubt she will be first minister or SNP leader this time next year...the ensuing Salmond case and his efforts to take revenge on her will not help either..she's on a downward spiral ...

May be she speaks for all the realistic Scots. :-)
Retro op, the EU will welcome Scotland with open arms. It will be a constant reminder to the rest of the UK that the EU are in charge.

However, would we be as obstructive with Scotland on its departure as the EU has been with us!
Exactly Annea
I think it safe to say I speak for the majority...
PreBrexit perhaps - post perhaps not!
Exactly mm

I doubt it. A full refund to the UK for the Barnett Formula payments would be an appreciative golden handshake though. :-)
