They’re all comments from EU member states. Surely your not telling me the EU are going to listen to them? That doesn’t fit with the tyrannical overlord image at all, does it.

Fail, I’m afraid, N. Try finding an actual example of the EU themselves being frit of us leaving.
Oh, and from the article for OG:
‘"The passivity with which above all Angela Merkel is letting Brexit make its way bureaucratically is short-sighted," political editor for Die Zeit, Jochen Bittner, argues’
ZM losing £ millions.
//tyrannical overlord image //

//They’re all comments from EU member states. Surely your not telling me the EU are going to listen to them? //

That says it all, zacs. Perhaps you should start listening to yourself.
N, it’s not me who paint the EU as tyrannical overlords. It’s the way many leave voters on here portray them and cite as their excuse for voting the way they did.

This brings us full circle back to that view being at odds with them being scared of us leaving. Which you’ve STILL to provide evidence of.
danny, I can’t fathom what point you’re trying to make.
The Eu has "Nothing To Lose"?

When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose.
Bob Dylan.
Zacs, the EU member states are not the EU? Really? Who is then?
Haha Found this little ditty on a different media site. :))

'Won't you join our Common Market ' said the spider to the fly,
'It really is a winner and the cost is not too high,
I know De Gaulle said 'Non', but he hadn't got a clue,
We want you in, my friends, because we have plans for you,
You'll have to pay a little more than us, but only just for now.
As Herr Kohl said, and I agree, we need a new milch cow,
It's just a continental term, believe me, mon ami,
Like 'Vive la France' or 'Mad Anglais' or even EEC,
As to the rules, don't worry friend, there's really but a few,
You'll find that we ignore them, but they'll all apply to you.
Give and share between us, that's what it's about,
You do the giving, and we all share it out.
It's very British, is it not, to help a friend in need?
You've done it twice in two world wars, a fact we must concede,
So climb aboard the Market train, don't sit there on the side,
Your Brussels friends welcome you, to take you for a ride.. '

Pretty Polly.
ZM, I know that you are not dense. The £billions that the EU will lose when we stop contributing.
Excuse 2b and 3d

Can't see that catching on, not in the same league as The So Rule... is it.
Naomi, if the EU member states are the EU, why are we leaving? Surely if we have a say, we’ve nothing to fear!

As I’ve said, you can’t have it both ways.
danny, then why aren’t they more willing to compromise on a deal?
One has to know how folk are using the exoression EU.

In one sense the EU is it's member states. But in an equally valid sense they are simply that which is controlled by the EU elite, that also can be considered the EU.

We are all aware the parliaments of individual nations have limited sway. The MEPs a sop. Control comes from the likes of Juncker et al on the executive.
EXPRESSION
zacs, still waiting for an answer to my question. If the EU member states are not the EU, who is?
ZM, Probably the EU is hoping that, with all their machinations, we will decide to remain.
Zacs; //Surely if we have a say, we’ve nothing to fear! //
You really don't get it do you?
What "say" did David Cameron have when he asked for very small adjustments to the rules in order to help slow down the flow of immigrants into the UK, a situation brought about by the recklessness of Tony Blair?
Answer; not only, none, he was also humiliated and scorned by the commission; hence, - Brexit!
I was being ironic. Naomi is claiming that the EU listen to their members. Which is clearly not the case. As you have pointed out.

You need to read the whole thread Khantdo.
Zacs, //Naomi is claiming that the EU listen to their members. Which is clearly not the case. //

Naomi didn't claim that. Naomi gave you a link confirming that member states were concerned about the UK leaving. That said, as an avid Remainer do you think it's acceptable for member states to be ignored? And furthermore, just who is ignoring them - which leads me back to my unanswered question. Who is the 'EU'?
