An update for those who, like me, suspected that the Gatwick drone incidents were a false flag incident engineered by the anti-drone brigade to obtain more draconian restrictions. It worked.

These measures have been in the pipeline a while and should have been implemented sooner.
From the article:

"Sometimes it's important to be seen to be doing something. That may well be the case with the government's plans to combat drone misuse...

So would the new measures have made any difference in (the Gatwick) situation? Probably not"

...going on to add:

"Flying a drone close to an airport was already illegal...The problem was actually finding those responsible...

But drone misuse is now a hot topic, so announcing these measures now, and widening the exclusion zone around airports, may help draw off some of the political flak"

Excellent, it'll take the pressure of the various other 'brigades' currently out there subverting.
Not everything is a conspiracy. When has any government needed an excuse to pass a law? Especially one in the pipeline anyway.

A bit of a farce, wasn't it!
The odour of Keystone Cops.
(Remember them.)
Should have been there in the first place, as should protection around airports.

Both are now done so good, we can stop this nonsense now. Plenty of places to fly drones safely if that is all you want to do.

Really? I can't find it. I can however find my post suggesting such......with the usual facetious comments a few moments later.

//Wouldn't rule out a false flag operation either. More project fear to show the "people" what is possible with a no deal resolution. Not many pictures of this/these drones to be seen.
