It won't happen, see the headline in OP Link,
"We rescued them" . . . . . . . . . . . . says it all.
Wish they could be but I am sure it was said on the news that when they are in our waters we cannot do that. I suppose it's seen as slightly different to someone turning up on plane from Paris with no passport- they would I hope be sent back as it's clear where they came from.
There will be fatalaties before long. I think there is a case for saying we won't rescue anyone- it seems cruel but if it deters others it might save lives in the long run
FF: "they would I hope be sent back as it's clear where they came from. " - how is this not clear where they came from?
Put them back in the boat they were in and tow it back to France on the back of the ferry.
It is clear that they almost certainly came from France but apparently that doesn't matter when they are in our waters. I'm just repeating what was said on the news so can't answer your query - we need someone who knows the legalities
I wouldnt hold your breath :-/
>Put them back in the boat they were in and tow it back to France on the back of the ferry.
I don't think France would accept them so maybe we should also put a slow puncture in the boat near France so they can' try to sail back here again
just stop rescuing them, others will soon get the message.

/// FF: "they would I hope be sent back as it's clear where they came from. " - how is this not clear where they came from? ///

Where does FF say it's not clear?
balders; FF said " I suppose it's seen as slightly different to someone turning up on plane from Paris with no passport- they would I hope be sent back as it's clear where they came from" - so if they arrive by plane it's clear where they came from, this infers that sailing across the channel is different from that.
TTT- I was just repeating what was stated on the news- although we know where they come from once they are in our waters they are our responsibility so France won't take them. Maybe it's something to do with maritime laws, I don't know. Maybe the reporter was wrong.
Anyway, we do agree on not rescuing boats, although maybe they would start taking British hostages on the boat with them then.

TTT, reread the quote you used at 18:47, where you also asked "how is this not clear where they came from?" with luck you may understand, but I won't hold my breath.
have a day off balders, if I toss a coin and it comes down not heads, what is it? I never said it was tails but it's clear that it is. No idea why you are arguing school boy semantics over this it is clear to me. You're turning into ZM!

I knew you wouldn't get it, nevermind.
get what? explain it to me.
Why do so many people on this site have apparently no respect or sympathy for fellow human beings?
why are they crossing the channel diddly? France is a safe country.
We have sympathy in that they have been sold a lie by people smugglers who are putting their lives in danger for profit, and we want to discouage others from taking an uncessary risk when they are already in a safe country (France)

They don't deserve respect or sympathy, they're chancers, economic migrants, they are coming from France, a safe Country, and I'm sure not the first safe Country they've been in. If they had any right to be here do you really think they would mid-Channel in a little rubber boat?
