is it a natural occurrence, after all the climate has changed over billions of years - is this really what we will come to.

Kromo; //It's hard to do anything that's carbon-neutral given the way that our economies have developed.// That is absolutely true, but there is so much hypocrisy surrounding these jamborees, look at Paris, a huge multi-million dollar fiasco, with people flooding in from all over the planet, self-congratulating, virtue-signalling, and achieving...

Never mind what David Attenborough says, Donald Trump says it is a Chinese and generally anti-American conspiracy.
A lot can be done. An awful lot.

It is natural occurrence to a certain position, but when you look at how the industrial revolution affected the climate and how it still is, then it is a cause for concern.

If it wasn't an issue, why would we be hearing of it being a big issue all the while?

the other way of thinking is "Lol lets do nothing let nature be nature lets see if we die".
I suspect that we'd have to go back to a pre-industrial revolution type of existence to make changes on the kind of scale required to make a significant difference.
Obviously that isn't going to happen.

I'm not a scientist, but that's my feeling about it as a complete layman.
I think one of the biggest climate issues is the great barrier reef. How much more proof do humans need? We can visually see it at the "place where all life began" (theory) and coral reefs across the globe
Unless the whole world gives up its modern way of life, realistically nothing that means anything can be done about climate change. The talk is all hot air - so to speak.
It's not up to the "world" it's up to government officials if they even want to recognise if there is an issue or not.
I think scientists who study the thing are more optimistic than that. It "just" means changing our main sources of energy, and being more efficient about the stuff we *do* use.
Imagine if every diesel car was electric, imagine if every coal log burner could be replaced with eco friendly electric heaters with energy sourced from solar panels

That would be a HUGE difference, now imagine the other possibilities where we could become more eco and green.

We could have a massive impact but in reality people can't be bothered or they don't care.

Finances are the ultimatum for many also.
Do read the link provided, and listen to the embedded videos. This summary hits the nail on the head for me.
""Noting the extremely small contribution to greenhouse gases from human activity (just 0.28%), the poor correlation between temperature and CO2, the non-causality between CO2 and temperature, the significant correlation of solar irradiance with temperature, recent global cooling, and unconvincing IPCC climate model predictions - then the alarmist reports from the IPCC appear questionable. And the fact that these reports are accepted by the UN, EU, WTO and national bureaucracies as the basis of long-term political and economic decisions has led many to cry 'conspiracy'. They claim that the flawed concept of anthropogenic warming is being used by climate change talks to raise taxes and to bring about one-world government. Western governments now charge a climate change levy (CCL) (tax) on taxable commodities such as electricity, natural gas, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), coal and coal products. This adds an unnecessary burden on industry, commerce and agriculture:""

The " but c.400 ppm of C02 is quite enough thanks" comment doesn't make it easy for AB's slower posters, does it, Jim?

(Meet me half way, Abe. Buy a ticket)
Togo is, unfortunately, spouting complete trash. It's difficult to know even where to start in that lot.
Imagine the amount of electrickery required and the damage done providing the infrastructure to develop and maintain it.
By gum Jim is a fast reader...…..or not as the case may be.
One doesn't need to read the entirety of that to recognise it for what it is, namely pseudoscientific nonsense.
//I suspect that we'd have to go back to a pre-industrial revolution type of existence to make changes on the kind of scale required to make a significant difference//

Anybody, the greenest of greens included, want that? Bashing clothes with a rock in water which somebody upstream has defecated in?
//Anybody, the greenest of greens included, want that? Bashing clothes with a rock in water which somebody upstream has defecated in? //

Realistically, ^that's the solution.
// Anybody, the greenest of greens included, want that? Bashing clothes with a rock in water which somebody upstream has defecated in? //

Exactly my point VE. It ain't gonna happen.
As an eco alternative to the washing machine.
climate change/global warming.

It is all a load of old cobblers just to make money out of spreading fear.
Yes, such a shame that all those poor oil companies, just trying to do the decent thing and never seeking money, are getting slightly scuppered by the irresponsible climate fanatics who are trying to stop the planet from being damaged.
