Why only the UK?

There are twenty-seven other countries in the EU who are predominantly Christian plus countless others both in Europe and throughout the world that would be similarly suitable. Why is the UK the first port of call for such refugees?
Other EU counries have offered her sanctuary.

We are bowing down/running scared of the Islamist.

Shameful.
Let's be honest. She'd be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire coming here.
Canada is in talks with Pakistan.

I agree with Talbot. We're capitulating to Islamists. Utterly shameful.

Perhaps that is what they are frightened of, showing our followers of Islam in their true colours.
Absolutely we should, the question of her safety is of course paramount but our offer should be there at the forefront.
I would have thought she had enough problems without Boris Johnson getting involved
She needs to be given sanctuary in one country then quietly moved to another so that no one knows where she is but the first problem is getting her out of Pakistan
Maybe we can swap her with the thousands of people we have allowed to come here who still think we live in the middle ages - FGM, Honour killings, "owning" your wife, hanging for making a comment about a religion, and much more.

How much better this country would be without those hundreds of thousands of people.

We can dream.
yes we should, but i wonder how safe she will be in UK>
Ooops sry - already covered
she would have to don western dress etc, and what about her husband and children??
Yes, though Canada has offered sanctuary and she might be safer there.
Emmie,
When Malala Yousafzai found safety here so did her parents and probably her siblings too.
The same should apply to this young woman.
Absolutely we should, this is true Asylum.

The biggest problem though is she would simply not be safe here or in most EU countries thanks to Blair, May Merkle etc.

Perhaps Hungary could help, probably safest for her.

Anyone know how many Christian Pakistanis live in the UK?
As an aside, this is the country we give £300 million to in foreign aid, yes?
I don't understand how we are capitulating to Islam by either offering her or not offering her asylum?
aog

The UK also has one of the largest overseas Christian Pakistani communities; the 2011 census recorded around 17,000 Christian Pakistanis living in England and Wales, around 1 per cent of the Pakistani population of England and Wales.

emmie

Thank you, a very small percentage then? Perhaps she will be safer somewhere else then?
