Paris For The (Slightly) Crocked ?

Bonjour

I've got a bad back - temporary (and improving by the day) - but dratted painful and currently restricting my movement and walking ability.

We're off to Paris next week for what was originally planned as an Art 'n' Culture break - lots of Museums and Galleries - plus the usual wandering the streets in search of food/drink/wool.

It looks like I'll be OK to travel - but not brilliant for standing /walking for long periods - so any ideas for more sedentary pleasures would be welcome?

Plus any personal (as opposed to guidebooks - which I already have) recommendations for places to eat/drink in the Louvre/Halles districts (Montmartre and the Rive Gauche may be a walk too far this time - and the steps out the Metro may be a killer).

Merci Mes Amis

You could enjoy admiring the scenery whilst leaning on the carpet cleaner.

someone might suggest getting your accident prone partner to push you around in a wheelchair ... ignore them

The Museum of Fine Art in the Petit Palais is free and well worth a visit, ground floor and small basement section(only one flight of stairs but a lift too) with a Monet on display.
Clothes shopping, on the flat or in-store lifts, places to get coffee...why else would anyone go to Paris.
My favourite bistro in Paris is La Grisette (27 Rue du Faubourg du Temple Paris 75010). Excellent service and wonderful food at sensible prices, served 24 hours per day. Simply hop on the Métro to République (Line 3, 5, 8, 9 or 11) and take a short stroll to get there.

One of the best ways to see the sights of Paris is from the river but the posh tour boats can be very expensive. The Batobus is far cheaper and more flexible too. It's a hop-on/hop-off service, where you pay a flat fare of €17 for a day's unlimited travel (or €19 for 2 consecutive days). The boats run every 40 minutes at this time of year (1000-1700 Mon-Thu, 1000-1900 Fri-Sun). You don't get a guide but it's easy to work out what you're looking at simply by taking a map with you.

motorised scooter? wheelchair or buggy?

Thanks Chris and CD - useful info.

RR - we did think of that, but I'm not that bad. Actually, if I was that crocked, then we'd probably claim on insurance and reschedule I think.
I would plonk myself down at a bistro, work my way through the menu, drink copious amounts of wine and just watch the world go by.

Quite so, Sharon - that's pretty much a normal holiday for me anyway - I just sort of feel the need for a bit of culture this time :)
You do know that the best thing for back problems is to keep moving/walking and NOT sitting/lying about? That's why "bed rest" for disc problems in hospital was replaced by exercises and physio...so you have no excuses for not taking a complete walking tour!
Really? Only me then?

Loungy Lie-in ;-)
If I were in Paris at this time of year with a physical problem I would go and see my friend Michelle who would definitely make me feel better....
^ Other massage facilities/options are available... can't be posting them here though ;-))
You've met Michelle as well then...?
Alas, shoota, I haven't - send my best when you get the chance :-)

Anyhoo, I've never been to Paris, though if I could, I would - so much there I'd like to see :-)

I am reliably informed that if I need my (ahem) 'back' massaged then I only have to ask ... given that my friend's uncle was (with good reason) known as 'Crusher', I think I might pass on that one ...
